A must visit gallery when in Bali. I must say the paintings are all amazing. The agent told us that some paintings would take months to make and the one that caught my eye was made by a famous Indonesian artist. It cost around USD 6000. The gallery paintings are composed by different individuals so the variety is big. My eyes had a feast looking at each pieces.
What a happy place it was for me to be!
FYI. Photography is not allowed inside the gallery to avoid counterfeits. My bad of taking photos from the entrance as I didn’t know yet before that.
20230814 Bali Island Travel/Come to Ubud Village for an art tour in the afternoon and visit the [Ubud Art Museum]. It is a private gallery. This quiet, peaceful and leisurely mountain village is a gathering place for artists. You can enter and browse Go shopping and enjoy the creation of local humanities, culture and folk customs. There are also artists painting on site, and you can also buy paintings
What an incredible experience. We loved meeting with I Wayan Merta. He graciously showed us around the beautiful gallery. We loved seeing all of the different types of paintings, each so unique. We ended up purchasing a piece of art created by Merta and cannot wait to showcase it in our home!
Beautiful and enjoyable experience. Included informative tour of the different Balinese painting styles through history. The prices quoted are high but you have to haggle (remember that the art is beautiful and the artists deserve the money)! Haggling process was never aggressive and always polite. Would definitely recommend.
You will find the best painting in the 1st hall when u step in, as you venture further, the art pieces are so-so. I bought 2 pieces of local Ubud artist art pieces, saw another 3 clients all made purchases as well. Look for Ketut Roy, very friendly and helpful and artsey fellow.
Semar Kuning is full of astonishing pieces of art and offers a superb hospitality. We got several arts selected from different collections of Semar Kuning. That was so hard to choose cuz so many selections and they are all awesome! And talking about the service, Pak Ketut is very welcoming and friendly! Thank you for helping us!
Huge array of art on exhibition from some beautiful traditional balinese to modern animal canvases. As others have mentioned, you are followed around which is a little confronting, but was not pressured to make a purchase. If you are in the market for Bali style artwork, put this place on your list.
Solid collection of Balinese artists, from master's to less skilled, but still very adept. We found one we liked but could not align on the price. My wife and I had an enjoyable visit and the bartering was respectful and polite, we just couldn't find a price we could both accept. Go and visit, worst thing that could happen is you leave with a greater appreciation of Balinese art
A great collection of Balinese art. See artist at work and select paintings from varying levels of mastery and pricing. Very hospitable environment and lots to choose from. I bought a lovely keepsake to remind me of my time in Bali.
Semar Kuning art gallery in Ubud is an Art Cooperative where you can find a huge collection of Balinese paintings - both traditional and modern. The paintings are available for viewing and purchase. We bought a beautiful pallette knife painting, which was already framed. Photography is prohibited inside so we took some pictures outside.
We really liked the setting and there was a huge selection of many different styles. However, we hated being followed and stalked from room to room. We probably would have bought something if left alone. I think many people feel the same. By all means, have a " watcher" in each room who could pick up on a possible sale but otherwise leave people alone to browse and they will probably get more sales in the long run.
