Best Indian food I have had in a long time. Best butter chicken and lamb Rogan Josh. The tea could be better but every food item was excellent and the halwa was the best.

Just posting this to inform they dont allow single person. You have to be in group of 2 or more. I went alone and was denied the table. Wanted to let others know before they make the trip so their time is not wasted.

Beautiful restaurant in Ubud. It was on my list from the year before I went to Bali and so glad I could include in this visit. The food is beautiful and they have some tasty cocktails- we also tried the chai pairing ceremony for 50k rupiah and then ate a lot of snacks, roti and curry. Great service too

It’s a really nice restaurant with the options of some of the best Indian dishes. Don’t come here only expecting the “authentic” Indian food. It’s quite nice with a modern touch. Really enjoyed it, especially the kind service.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever tried. Creative, contemporary Indian dishes you can't find anywhere else. Truly unique, delicious food. Great for lunch as well as dinner. A must if you're in Ubud!

Elevated Indian cuisine, a unique take on traditional food that you are unlikely to get anywhere else. Lovely atmosphere and service. Highly recommended!

For the first time I have been to a restaurant where the waiter says that we don't have enough cutlery (plates and spoons) to serve. The food was not good in taste.

Reviews and Menu card uploaded in photo states pure veg restaurant but it is not case.

I’ve come to this place way too many times, almost every other day that I’ve been in Ubud. I’m a big fan of their paneer butter masala and dosa with tomato pachadi chutney! Pulao is also good and so is the missi roti and parantha. I would skip the samosas and chai, as they were just okay. There is a mini dosa combo on one of their menu pages that comes with sambhar and chutney, but I found those to just be okay and too sweet for my taste, and now prefer the tomato pachadi chutney which is a bit spicier than the others. The portions are smaller than other Indian restaurants as these are tapas but the prices are less. That works perfectly as I’ll order the same dishes and have portions I can actually finish, for less.

Awful experience.

First, they didn’t have ingredients for 2/5 cocktails on the menu. Then they didn’t have cold beer.

The food was mediocre to above average.

Though they served us the food, tapas style, then looked at us like we were crazy for asking for share plates. At first I felt bad but eventually just gave up on the entire experience. Not worth half the money we spent it was WAY overpriced.

Be prepared to over pay for your food and remind the staff to put your drinks in a glass if they even have any when you get there

We had a few times a really nice moments in Apsara, sometimes with my partner some with friends, and I will always back, because the food it’s 10 points, the ambiance it’s perfect for have an unforgettable time, and the location it’s great!
Remember to try the thali panner it’s one of my favourite dish, and the Somoza!

I highly recommend this place for everyone!

Wow! What a great experience at Aspara we had!

The location is along a cute alley, with small shops and friendly faces. Aspara feels homely inside, especially when accompanied by Carpediem Holistic's beautiful art exhibition vibes which were present during our night.

'Relfection' themed art work hung from the walls, reverberating inside the warm dining area light.

The food was pretty yummy! Having been to India a few times now, im never fully impressed by western restaurant standards. But an over all good meal:)

The service was a little slow, and at one point i stood by the counter for around 5min before someone talked to me, i felt invisible. However i understand it may not always be as busy as it was, with the exhibition going on.

Defiently a recommendation as a nice indian meal to have, that was reasonably priced, good food, and a great experience.

Half of the food on the menu wasn’t available. The waiter and and the waitress wasn’t able to speak English. Even that didn’t bother me because I love being patient with people and communicating in different ways. But I could feel there was a sense of weirdness when they were serving us. We found the owner in the restaurant was there and we thought we would speak to him. As soon as we started conversation with him he came charging at us.

We were the only ones in the restaurant and we were getting horrible service. I just don’t understand why he wasn’t nice. I feel bad for the people that work there, the restaurants around him and the future people that come to his restaurant. He’s definitely ruining Bali’s reputation.

He kept using a rude tone when speaking, he even charged at our Aussie friend and called him racial slurs. I DEFINITELY DON’T RECOMMEND GOING THERE!

I have been to Apsara a few times and I love the food (I have tried quite a few dishes!), the drinks (good red wine, some of the best vegan chai I have ever had, and delicious kombucha), and the atmosphere! The location is central and they often host art exhibitions.super good vibes and nice chilled music playing in the background.this venue embodies good taste in any possible way! I will be back!

Worst food. I would never recommend this restaurant. I ordered plain Dosa and it was very very sour, I think the batter was prepared long ago.

Really bad experience. If u like bitter taste, then u will njoy the food. We have ordered dosa, sambar, chana masala and Puri, i can't even say atleast one of these is as a good one. Also the chef I think he is not even see India in map atleast.really bad. Worst food ever had, i will share some of the photos also.and the only reason I give 1 star bcz there is no other options.

If u r looking for Indian food in Ubud, pls don't waste your precious idr and time in this hostile place. They don't have much options. Additionally, they don't know what is Indian food. They don't even offer water once you arrive there. My bill amount was 370.075 IDR and she asked me to pay even 0.075 IDR change, a currency that even doesn't exist I suppose. Additionally, they charged 30k (service charge and tax extra) for 250 ml of water (whoop 190 Indian rupees or 2.5 us dollars), by which you can't even fill your glass of water. Extremely pathetic and professional way of profitability. These people don't even seem to know what India and Indian culture is, and they should be less hostile instead of putting history of apsara on their front pages of menucards.

Too costly for the ridiculously less portion of food given. If you are an Indian one portion will be enough only for a toddler.

The Dosa was sour. May be the dough was prepared when they opened this outlet. One dosa was burnt and another under cooked.

Too bad for the hanging paintings, they should change them.

Following the recommendations, I just tried Apsara, the contemporary Indian restaurant in Ubud.
As a starter, I ordered the Paneer Tikka which was amazing. Following the recommendations of the server, I ordered the butter chicken as my main course. However, this version of a butter chicken is way too sweet for me and thus after two bites of the plate, I decided to order the Saag Paneer instead (which was again great).
When the waitress saw that the butter chicken was quasi untouched she asked if they could resell it. Very startled by the question because no, you can never resell food which has been served to one guest even if it looks untouched, I said no, that I had tried it. When I got the check, the butter chicken was on it. I asked the waitress if this could be canceled since I literally just tried it and couldn't eat it, she said that they can't do that because the owner/manager will be very angry and yell at them if they did!
Even though the two palak dishes I had were very good, hearing how this restaurant is run and that plates which might seem untouched might be sold again and that staff is afraid of making decisions because of their owner/manager's reaction (the owner/manager of course was not at the restaurant), I wonder if this restaurant really belongs to Ubud's upcoming restaurant scene.

Authentic food according to an Indian palate. Got the dal tadka and jeera pulao made of basmati rice. I enjoyed the depth of flavor in the dal and the rice had a unique spice mix.

Cheaper to dine in than using delivery. Located in a cute street with motorbikes passing by but doesn’t bother me much. Thanks to the chef and servers for the nice meal.

Update: came back and also tried the masala dosa, saag paneer canapé and cholla. All of them were wonderful. Paneer was soft, saag had a traditional bitter mustard taste and dhokla is so soft and fully. Ask for chutney to go with dhokla.

2 waitresses can't stop chatting to each other, extremely disturbing and annoying! I told them they talk & talk to each other too much but they still didn't stop chit-chating, they are very unprofessional and the owners need to find new staff!

Food- nothing special, small portions and only a little choice on the menu. Very disappointed and wouldn't come back.

The worst food experience ever! We ordered daal tadka and a bread basket, but their daal tadka tasted more like sambhar (and that too, bland). And as for the bread basket, they gave us small cookie-sized bread and crackers (which they called missi roti).
