Great value & great view! The pools looking out on the mountain & lake were enough to make me want to come back

Beautiful place, built by the men still working here. Hot springs in front of the mountain, chill vibes. Really cool staff.

Pool is already warm and no need to go to the hotspring. Food is very affordable and room is clean.

With a good wifi and yummy meals too

Went up to Black Lava for the view and a drink.
Nice view of Mount Batur from a cool little bar.
I wanted to eat but unfortunately the restaurant does not open before 2: 30 p.m.
If you wish a beautiful point of view accompanied by a drink go lose yourself there for a moment

Attention, this establishment participates in the mafia system of guides for the Batur. We had the very bad experience of being fired (10min after our arrival with 2 children and backpacks) when we had paid for the room in cash when we arrived after booking on booking. When the boss of the hotel understood that we would not take the guide for the ascent of the batur at his place because it is much too expensive, he refused to give us the keys to our rooms and gave us back the money. Mind-blowing. I see that I am not at all the only one to have this experience. The "system" of the guides is clearly not only for this establishment, but refusing us the paid room.no comment.
Too bad to spoil such a beautiful place with deleterious practices that will end up scaring away tourists who do not wish to finance these practices, which we have refused to do.

Not really a great experience, a lot of flies, it's very unpleasant outside, to eat and in the rooms.
The bathroom smelled of sewage and mold and was dirty, dirty sheets, not properly cleaned and small animal droppings on the top of the cabinet.
And there is the noise of trail bikes and 4x4s that can be heard from the middle of the night.
Plus the noises around the farmers.
It's not the quietest of places.
Only positive points: the hot water basins and the proximity for the Mount Batur treks.
Apart from that there is nothing to do, the lake is quite far on foot, and nothing else.
Helpful staff but no more.
May be suitable for a stopover or for customers who are not too concerned about cleanliness.
For the wifi, it's not terrible and if you have a power cut, don't worry it will come back in a few minutes
The view is nice.

Ideal for young people or people who are not too particular about cleanliness. Only positive points, the hot pools and still there are flies by the hundreds impossible to stay on a deckchair and the proximity of Mount Batur

HORRIBLE. They tried to scam your money all the time.
The hostel owner tried to told my online taxi to cancel the order, because he said I need to book from ' Local driver'. Such a big joke. He told me I am not allow to book taxi online. We almost start a fight.
This hostel is in a middle of nowhere, I asked them where is the closet Cafe, they said its 20 min motorbike ride away, and they can send me there. I asked if its free they said “Of course not！ ” I asked them about the price, and they told me it’s 200K.
COME ON！ 200K for 20min motorbike ride？ This is UGLY ！
The breakfast area is full of flies. You can't eat in peace.
The trip itself is nice, a bit expensive but understandable. （450k per person）.
Just dont come to this place.

I have a bit mixed feelings.
Staff nice and friendly but you have to asked them for everything. For toilet paper, shower gel, soap, to turn on hot water…
Good breakfast but smoking locals around didn’t make it enjoyable.
I find the accommodation in dorm a bit too close to nature. There is no isolation so frogs and geckos came to visit us.
Big locker but charging spots far away from bed. Wifi doesn’t reach the room. Only one of shows worked the time of my stay, the other created a pool of water.
Last 600m to the hostel is really bumpy dirty road.

Enjoyed our stay at Back Lava Hostel especially the hot spring on site - great way to recover from the hike up mount batur. Staff really friendly and incredible views of mount agang - shame about the amount of flies but there's not much they can do about that

This hostel is well designed regarding with a garden, a hot spring pool, restaurant etc.
Room was okay, bathroom was damp and dark because of the weather.
You can book hiking tour, transportation and rent a scooter here.
I felt so nice when I relaxed my tired body in the hot pool looking at beautiful Mt. Abang.

Location is nice to access to mountain Batur and the neighborhood, but not so nice when you are coming from another city because of endless curvy roads and unpaved roads (appx. 500m). You may want to tell this to your Grab driver who are not used to geography there.

Hotel dengan suasana alam yang luar biasa, terjaga bersih dan rapih, ada kolam air panas, lokasi natural, pemandangan alam nya suasana nya dapat banget

Berangkat dari Denpasar jam 11.30 an sampai ke Black Lava Hostel jam 14.00 sudah termasuk berhenti ngopi dulu di alfamart. 600m dari jalan raya jalanan masuk memang agak berbatu khas jalanan pedesaan, maklum jalanan ini dekat dengan jalur hiking gunung Batur. Sampai disana di sambut bli Kadek, boleh langsung lihat2 mau pilih kamar yg mana, pilihannya banyak ada glamping, lodge, hostel dan dormitory room (sharing room) namun saat itu yg tersedia type hostel saja. Kami pilih kamar paling unik kamar dengan bahan kayu. Pas dibuka kamarnya wangi seperti bedak bayi kesannya bersih dan tidak seram. Kamar terawat tidak lembab, jangan aneh kalo dikamar dan sekitaran banyak lalat karena itu lalat sayur dan buahan ladang di sekitar hostel tapi kalau malam lalatnya ga ada kok mungkin karna dingin jadi mereka pergi. Fasilitas kamar ada TV yg berfungsi dgn baik ada kipas angin rasa AC, hair dyer dan teko pemanas. Alat mandi bawa sendiri yaa tapi sudah di sediakan sabun dan shampoo. Disini pembayaran kamar (bisa cash dan transfer) sudah termasuk sarapan 2 orang di cafe hostel yaa (07.30 sampai 11.00) makanannya enak dan sederhana. Di hostel ini juga disediakan kolam umum hot spring mini yg cukup untuk berendam sampai 6 orang (air diganti setiap jam 12 siang) Untuk staff blinya semuanya ramah2 pemiliknya juga, kami dikasih free hotmilk. Untuk keamanan ada staff yg berkeliling malam juga. Kegiatan pagi hari ada pilihan untuk hiking ke gn. Batur dan disediakan guide juga untuk biayanya kami lupa tanya dan kami juga tidak hiking karena tidak bawa sepatu pemandangan dan suasana tidak usah ditanya, indahnya danau batur terpampang jelas ketika buka pintu kamar. Suatu hari akan kesana lagi karena sudah dapat tempat nyaman untuk menginap di Batur tentunya akan bawa sepatu supaya bisa hiking. Pemandangan bisa dilihat di foto yg kami share yaa walaupun sebenarnya lebih indah jika melihat dengan mata langsung. Oia disini dekat dengan wisata Black lava dan Danau Batur ada Pura juga. Waktu itu kami berkeliling dengan motor disekitaran kawasan danau jadi cukup menyenangkan juga. Detail tambahan bisa ditanyakan dikomen ya. Terimakasih

I stay here for just one night with family and they allocate last room looks like only room for family. (sorry it is not justice to say room, it is a cottage.) View from room is awesome, you will fall in love view from cottage balcony. Restaurant is very basic not a luxury place but food quality is good.they provide transport from hostel to main city [ only drawback of this accommodation ].

Be careful they will try to scam you: they offered us the mount batur trekking for 450k (which is a little bit expensive) and after that they offered the same trek to another couple for 800k. The rooms are also a little bit dirty and full of ants and flies, and the food they offer is horrible

Beautiful view.hostel has beautiful grounds and a small pool as well as a restaurant. It is at the base of Mt. Batur. It is more of a camping experience. The dormitory is clean and organized, the one I stayed in had the mattresses on the floor. There were individual lockers in the room with locks. The shower and toilets were outside. Breakfast was included with my nightly fee of $9 usd. The staff is extremely friendly. But I would not stay here again. This area is prone to an extreme amount of flies which is also mentioned in other reviews of other facilities in this area. I would also like a bit more security as a single woman traveling alone at night in a dorm room. I would like the ability to be able to at least latch the door so that I don't have to be concerned about somebody coming in in the middle of the night. The road to the hospital is accessible by motor scooter or car. I caution you though as there are some areas of the road that have extreme broken up concrete and dips in the road so you have to take it slow.

Loved this little place. Stopped here after a day on an Enduro bike ride. The private rooms are cosy with great views. The food was good and the natural volcanic hot spring pool was awesome.

Black Lava is a beautiful place to stay while visiting Mt Batur. I stayed in the family room in the far corner away from a lot of rooms and it was so gorgeous and peaceful. There are gardens all around and breathtaking views. The natural hotspring is an obvious draw here. My only wish is that they would keep it hotter, it wasn’t hot enough for me, it is mixed with the cooler water to regulate. I know not everyone needs it that hot but I’m a hot spring junkie and this didn’t satisfy. Nevertheless it is beautiful and I will surely stay again.

Amazing hostel with hot spring and view to Agung! The owner and the staff makes the stay even better - they drove us to a restaurant in the night and to my bus transfer the next morning. I wish I could stay longer.

Don’t let the word ‘hostel’ mislead you. There is a wide variety of clean rooms and cabins, all beautifully decorated with art and antiques, set in a beautiful garden with a natural hot spring pool to enjoy with the view. Yon was our favourite male host in all Bali, creating a party atmosphere in the dining area at night with good music and laughter.
Right at the trailhead for a dawn view from the top of Mt Batur with great guides. I can’t recommend Yon’s place more highly so I am sending all my friends to him at Black Lava Hostel ️

Good view, excellent service, very nice and hard working people and crew. The ingredients for the cocktail are freshly picked in their own garden.

Jelek, tmpatnya jauh, jalan menuju ke tempatnya rusak parah, trus udah di booking di agoda, malah hotelnya ngaku nggak kerja sama, sama agoda. Mending cari tmpat lain aja, di agoda tertera kamar tinggal 1 sisanya, pdhl nggak ada orang yg nginep smasekali.

Better find other place. The voucher i bought was rejected by the hotel. They said they didn't have any cooperation with the famous local online travel agent. So the plan to stayover in Kintamani was ruined by the rejection. Sad. Disappointed.

Staffnya ramah, tempatnya bersih, saya hanya sopir tapi keramahan staff ke saya dan tamu sama, khusus sopir kalau anda punya tamu mau tracking, rekomendasikan agar mau menginap disini 1 malam sebelumnya, pasti puas

Black Lava is one of the best places to stay in Bali if you're travelling around with some friends. I've stayed here a few times now and have never been disappointed. The owner is super friendly and a good laugh. Make the most of the peace and quiet in the beauty of the surrounding mountains while sitting in thermal springs. Highly recommend

This place is great. We went as a couple we were going to get a private room but ended up choosing the dorm room. Private rooms were more accessible for bugs and I think they said the showers were cold. The dorm room was great. Brick walls so less insects, the fans were great did not fee too warm at all. The hot spring is a huge draw to this place. The food is great too, breakfast is included. We did the volcano hike with Made. It was my third time and honestly the best. He took us EVERYWHERE I highly recommend going with him above anyone else.

Untuk kamarnya sangat bersih sekali dan terawat, sangat disarankan temen2 yang stay di Black Lava utk stay didepan, kemrin saya kebetulan dapat kamar dibelakang yang no view dan emang ada 1 unit saja krn yg didepan sudah penuh. Pintu kmar mandi gak bisa ditutup, minimal sabun mustinya ada.
Next saya dan keluarga dan rekomendasi pasti yang didepan. Overall suasana nyaman dan sangat tenang, sangat dibantu dengan signboard krn lokasi agak sedikit masuk gang yang bs di akses mobil, hati2 temen yg bawa motor beberpa titik bnyak jlan tanah yg sedikit ekstrim ada lobang sedikit nanjak, the point hati2 aja klo pas musim hujan gini rada licin. Kemrin saya agak early check out karena ada hal mendadak yang mana malam nya hrus meninggalkan hotel, tidak bisa review sarapannya krn hny stay semalam doang.

The hospitality was great. Owner baik, view on point. A very recommended place for people who try to running away from the city.

Beautiful place but HUGE problem with bed bugs. We stayed in the family 3 bed room and I woke up covered in bed bug bites. We told the staff and they refused to give us a discount even thou I was completely covered in bites and it cost me a lot of money to replace my clothes to stop then spreading. It was such a shame as the place was beautiful!

Black lava hostel is such a great place to hangout, they have the option if you want affordable hostel sharing with others, comfortable private homestay or do you want to stay in a more than 5stars hotel in a tent, they can facilitate that.
The place is little bit hidden far from main road, but guess its a hidden gem. They have this natural hotspring you can use anytime.
The owner also a very unique artist, made a lot of vintage decorations mostly from woods.
And don't forget to try the coffee in theit coffee shop too.
Just a note to bring your own mosquito repellent in case. The rest, everything is amazing.

Great view, good service, and affordable price. However some of the rooms and tents require people to go through sets of uneven stairs which will prove quite challenging for senior citizen or people with bad knee

Amazing hostel, warm water, clean everything and perfect atmosphere. I really recommend going around the volcano by motorbike because the backside is beautifull! I did not do the climb because hot tub was to nice.

Pemandangan ke danau Baturnya bagus.
Tidur di kamar, tapi berasa tidur di tengah hutan. Suara jangkrik di malam harinya, bikin nyaman.

Kalo utk sekedar tidur lumayan bersih, ada kolam kecil utk sekedar berendam (air panas alami). Sarapan minimalis (standar hotel), view menghadap danau batur. Aksesnya dr pinggir jalan ke villa 600 meter.

Ini tempat kereeeeeeen banget, view + konsep glamping.recommended deh.saya juga pasti bakal balik ke sini lagi. ️
