We had a wonderful few hours at Deking’s home learning how to paint batik. Deking is an ex retired school teacher, this explains his patience! Step by step the process is explained, you can choose a ready drawn batik design or draw your own.
The different wax was shown and demoed to us. We eagerly set out to work on our own pieces. The end result was fabulous! We learnt something and took home our end product as well! Nice fried banana was served while we waited for the dye colouring process. Recommend if you have 2hrs to spare in Ubud!

We arrived at Deking Batik Class without booking and he welcomed us and accommodated us. It was the most wonderful experience. He patiently helped us plan and complete our fabric designs. He was in no rush. He shared family stories while we painted. His wife prepared delicious tea and treats for us. Studio is a peaceful and beautiful. We had therapy on his bed while we waited. Highly recommend this activity from start to finish. Amazing creative design with no prior experience necessary.

This workshop was a highlight for us on our trip. It was a creative and relaxing experience and we got to take home beautiful artwork at the end.
Deking is very patient in his teaching with many years experience. His home is beautiful, his family welcoming and his wife made us a tasty snack.

My 3 kids have great fun there this afternoon and learnt basic batik painting The teacher/owner was passionate, patience with young kids and the environment was good.

I had the most aMAZing workshop with Deking, he is a master of his art! From the beautifully tranquil setting in which you do the workshop, the meditative sounds whilst you learn, I not only learnt a new form of art & came away with a beautiful piece to take home. I also left feeling so relaxed and inspired! I also must mention the kindness and thoughtfulness they show towards you to ensure you have a wonderful time! Oh and the home made banana fritters absolutely delicious
