Gazebo Beach Hotel

It's great because there's a lot of greenery and it's directly connected to the sea, but the room I was staying in didn't have Wi-Fi, so I had to use the restaurant or the lobby. The restaurant closes at 8 o'clock, and the beer was at room temperature, so I only added ice. The staff are very kind.

I booked this hotel because I had wandered past it in October 2022 right after Covid restrictions had eased. It was right on the beach & also fronted the main street. Other reviews had stated that this was an 'old style' Bali Hotel & I thought that it was worth a shot. Apparently this was one of the first hotels in the area. Most reviewers will remark on the gardens, (beautiful as you might expect,) others will talk about the location, (also good,) & others might tell you about the friendly staff, (also typical of all Bali hotels.) I tend to agree with all of these positive aspects but there is a downside. Whilst many remark on the 'charming decor' they tend to gloss over the failings of this probably once great establishment. I have been a frequent visitor to Bali over many years & I can tell you that this hotel is 'tired! ' The rooms are badly in need of maintenance & the air conditioners cannot seem to cope with the climate. The 2 swimming pools need some scrubbing to remove the green algae around the edge & because they have the sun beating down on them, they are as warm as bathwater. The staff are doing their best to help keep this sinking ship afloat. The hotel is sandwitched between the Tanjung Sari & the Respati Hotel which is fortunate because guests of this hotel can avail themselves of their food offerings as the Warung Gazebo Beach (where breakfast is served,) has a very limited selection. I did notice one site saying that there was an 'on site restaurant' called Coco's but I walked by it today & it is closed permanently.
It may sound like I am denigrating this hotel (which I am not,) but I am trying to give an honest, well balanced opinion based on my own quite considerable experience of holidaying in Bali. This may have been a top shelf hotel once upon a time, but it is long past its prime & it shows. Regulars to this hotel, (it seems very popular with aged Australians) may disagree with me & that is their right but, in my opinion I think prospective customers need relevant information, not some glossy sales pitch from enthusiastic first time tourists. My initial 'Saver' room was very basic without even a kettle to make a cup of tea or coffee. The shower was over a wading pool type of affair which was impossible for people with ambulatory issues to step into. I requested an upgrade advising the staff that I would happily pay for the difference. I was shown 2 other rooms before settling for the room I am in, as I write this tome. My partner requested that the air conditioner be checked today & the maintenance men came immediately & regassed the unit. At this stage there appears to be no appreciable improvement. It may also be helpful to know that the water pressure in the 4 rooms that I have been offered is abominable. Still, it is Bali after all, bless them. There is another dilapidated property next door which, I am told, is owned by the owner of this one. The scuttlebut is that he has no plans for refurbishing that property. I post a photo of it because it does lower the tone of the neighbourhood.

Terrible experience, a completely run-down hotel without any soul nor caring staff. The room was moldy and damp, airconditioner not functioning properly, bathroom in shambles. Breakfast ‘buffet’ consists of virtually nothing. Serves ham without telling people it is beef (I am Hindu so don’t eat beef). In the evening there is barely a light on and the restaurant, despite being open, dimly lit, empty and dead…

Super nice hotel with a great garden full of plants. Lots of old furniture and artwork. The location is super central in the middle of Sanur with everything you need right on your doorstep and right on the beach. Very reasonably priced and super friendly staff. We recommend.

I think good and bad differ from person to person. I think it's a good hotel if you want to relax and do nothing in the middle of nature.
The staff at the front desk will kindly respond to you, and the staff will greet you with a smile.

However, it seems that the deterioration of the equipment has various problems.
If you are looking for convenience, cleanliness and comfort, you should choose another hotel.
1) Wi-Fi is not available in some rooms, and it may be a problem in this area, but it was cut off suddenly.
2) The towels have been washed, but they are rough, not white, and sometimes colored.
3) There seems to be a room where water leaks to the floor when the washbasin is attached.
4) The TV is a nostalgic Blancan TV, and maybe because it's analog, there are rooms that only show 4 channels.
5) The shower comes out vigorously, but it's an old faucet that can't be finely adjusted to the temperature.
6) Since the blanket has lost hair and is thin,
It is better to get it at the front desk as soon as possible because it will be added.etc

Times are tough for this place.
I've been there many times in recent weeks.
Excellent location on the beach walk.
Covid, very low cost menu 10k/small serve.
Can't get better than that in a million dollar location, so we're happy to support their efforts to stay open and support their staff through tough times and no tourism.
Give it a try. Floridina Orange Drink 10k Rp and Mie Goreng 10k Rp

Tempat duduk-duduk di pantai mana nih ya sanur atau karang atau sindhu lupa wkwkwk, ada beberapa gazebo disetiap pantai tersebut cuma waktu ini dapat gazebo yang tempatnya duduknya sudah hancur dan kayunya lapuk mungkin krn sudah lama jd cuma bisa duduk2 dijalanannya. Sebenernya pemandangan dari sini bagus cuma yaa gazebonya aja yg sudah tidak layak diduduki, semoga bisa segera diperbaiki

We miss the Gazebo Beach Hotel. Have been there 5 times - we were also married there and experienced the staff as part of the bridal party. Great family hotel - Miss you Gazebo. Hope the virus restrictions are raised soon. We will meet again.

Somewhat run down and a noisy neighbour beach club on one side. Still great views and a good place to sit for a drink whilst out walking or cycling.

Staying a the Gazebo Beach Hotel as today 2/1/2020 and loving it. Great old style hotel. This hotel is quirky and a little eccentric with its 70s decor. Don't get me wrong it has kept up with the modern cons. The gardens are traditional and reflect a time gone by, just beautiful. The sheets and towels are white and the beds are comfortable. The restaurant is well priced and serves delicious food. Location on the beach is the best in Sanur. We first came to Bali in 1979 and the Gazebo Beach Hotel take us to that time. Loving our stay and highly recommend if you appreciate the Bali that was.

The new Memories restaurant/bar on the beach is good location for families with children. They have beach lounges, swing, small pool and of course the ocean, the adults can have few drinks and some thing to eat while watching the kids.
The only negative, they need to work on serving cold beer. (We asked the waiter to put some in the freezer)

This traditional Bali accommodation is for the genuine holiday maker that enjoys a touch of Bali history, comfortable, clean (including the 2 pools) beach access with your own day beds and a restaurant on site overlooking the beach (the bestest lunch and dinner around) breakfast is okay but I will be taking my own vegemite and bake beans next trip. The best part is the managment and staff, absolutely beautiful people that cant do enough for you.

Tempat bersantai yang pemandangan lautnya indah, air pantainya bening, tenang dan dangkal sehingga enak untuk berendam atau berenang.

I had a nice papaya/banana smoothie. And a good curry, vegetarian style. They left out chicken and added tempeh. A pretty small portion though foor 115.000 rupiah. Not worth the money. The setting and atmosphere is good and the personel do their work well. Would I recommend the place? Not with enthousiasm.

The hotel is tired and in need of renovations. I had booked for 20 nights, I could only suffer 2 nights then checked out.
Hot water takes 10 min to come through. Very expensive half price on line.
The included breakfast was very poor.

The Gazebo Beach Bungalows at Sanur has been the best kept secret of Sanur Bali since I first came here in 1984. Wonderful peaceful gorgeous experience. It has it all for an intimate Bali experience. Rosie Read from Adelaide South Australia. I have stayed all over Bali and have settled here from now till forever for my holidays.

Clean rooms. Good service and helpful friendly staff. Been coming back for years now. Dining area on beach. 2 pools. Air con good in room.
