Very nice experience in a side road from Ubud Palace. Sitting at the first floor with an amazing atmosphere we enjoyed amazing squid with prawns filling and yellow rice. Absolutely recommended!

The food really all tastes the same, very average. The bill for 4 people was $250, we ate and sat talking and were told to either order something further or go chat in the smoking room. This was the first time we encountered such rudeness.

Everything was simply delicious! We managed to get a table without reservations but it was full, and we got lucky. Every bite and every sip was yummy.

While everything was yummy, the standout was the Ginger Lemongrass Creme Brulee with strawberry mint leaf honey, black pepper salted caramel stick. It was a special, do try it if it's avialable!

Food is tasty - portions are quite big and beautifully presented. Cocktails are delicious and strong. The staff is very friendly and polite. Definitely recommending this place:)

A great surprise

Lovely spot. Decor was hip, staff helpful and friendly, taking time to help us navigate the menu and avoid items to which we're allergic. Dishes were excellent, as were the cocktails. All around great experience.

I come to hujan at least twice a week and the food is always great DIAN IS a great host - I have loved in Ubud for many years and the food here is some of the best local cuisine in Bali - love it - you should now try their Honey and Smoke sister restaurant that has just opened up

The sate babi merah is to die for… amazing food! Every flavour in their food just dances on your tongue.

Amazing Balinese food! I particularly enjoyed the duck salad and smoked chicken. The second storey had a nice chill ambience with a bar. Portions are big, we over ordered a little. Remember to ask them to adjust the spice level to your taste.

Food is so spicy. It is impossible to eat. We asked no spicy but it is still unbelievable hot. Payed over a million and stay hungry

Outstanding food, drinks, service and atmosphere.
I highly recommend the scallop ceviche and lobster dumplings. The bebek goreng was delicious and crispy. Interesting take on roti canai with cashew butter. I would skip the soft shell crab.
The chilli lime margaritas were sublime.
I would definitely return.

Disappointing, overpriced, pretentious. Nice place, service is good, but food is nothing to write home about to say the least… With so many nice places in Ubud, I see a reason to spend $50+ per person there…

Dining hall is full even Monday evening, hence good to make reservation if you prefer sitting upstairs.

Had this lesser known Balinese classic tipat blayag first time, sensational and probably my new fav Balinese dish now.

Staff was friendly and attentive - immediately put on some essential oil on burner when he noticed where I sat had some street side odors.

Wow. Best meal of our month long stay. The food was incredible, perfectly seasoned, tender, immaculate presentation and great service. Special mention to our server who helped us navigate an allergy with the kitchen. Fabulous experience. Reservations recommended!

This place is amazing, definitely some of the best food we have had in Ubud along with great service and atmosphere. Upscale but not at all pretentious. We shared 5 starters and some roti and washed it down with a couple cold Island Ales. Definitely recommend!

Drinks and ambiance were good but the food was sooo spicy that I couldn’t taste it. I had to order white rice to help finish my plate. Also bear in mind the +17.5% surcharge for tax and service when reading the menu. Not a good pick for us tonight.

A beautiful restaurant with delicious food and a great wine list to match. Definitely worth a visit when in Ubud. I'm looking forward to going back.

Cumi (squid) with curry was excellent.other options on the menu (duck, pork belly) looked equally appealing.the descriptions on the menu are well written.beef satay on the other hand was a bit tough but the spices it was in was very good.shrimp crackers stale but it’s hard to do those right anyway.ambience is classy and low lit at night.plenty of parking.kind staff but food took about 30 mins + and the mains came out separate from each other, which is never good.still, the dish I ordered was, as stated, incredible.so if you have the patience, definitely recommended.

Good Indonesian food, familiar taste, had high expectation as almost everyone I knew was raving about it. Its just ok, for me as Im very used to Indonesian and Asian Cuisine. Would still give it a go though if you're thinking about going.

Indonesian dishes reinterpreted
The restaurant presents itself on two levels and has a pronounced attention to detail. Everything is a little rustic but with a chic touch. The service is consistently good, but I was also there at a relaxed lunchtime. I had the “48-hour rawon short rib beef with wood roasted bone marrow baby carrots kecai sprouts and served in black nut sauce” which was extremely good if not cheap compared to other restaurants but also something special. I was also able to try the Padang Curry, which was also very well done and also very hot for my taste. All in all, a really successful taste experience. Definitely upscale cuisine at a slightly higher price, which I think is justified. Definitely a find!

The kitchen. The tuna tartare was the star, and absolutely delicious!

The ambience is also nice with dim lighting and elegant vibe. Service was excellent too.

If I had one criticism, I would say the dishes were small for the price which made it a bit costly to get enough food. Drinks were also much more expensive than other restaurants we’ve tried in Indonesia. This was a big enough problem that we wouldn’t come back, not because it wasn’t good but more so because we can’t afford it.

Redefining Indonesian local food with love and respect: local food, which you would not find in fancy restaurants, only in local warung or street food. The location is blended beautifully with the owner of the land, which also showing respect to local custom and beauty. Lots of business owners in Bali rent a piece of land in front of local Balinese home and totally hide the house from outside, which you can see many in streets at Kuta/Legian/Seminyak, which is not very appealing to say the least. The staff is very professional and at the same time friendly and always smiling. We have had a lovely time!

Hujan has been one of my favourite restaurants for the past few years.

Their menu is eclectic with a large base with Balinese herbs and readily available produce.

The seafood is fresh and always cooked to perfection.

I absolutely enjoy this menu and ambience every-time I go back. The service staff are friendly and explain the dishes and what is inside. They are kid friendly and vegan / gluten free friendly.

For me the must tries are
- soft shell crab
- smoked barramundi
- any dessert off their sweets menu.

Superb introduction to Indonesian cuisine, using locally sourced and Indonesian ingredients. Very surprised to find out the chefs are westerners, but the end result turned out very well. It's a nice Indonesian fusion that you will easily love. Authentic Indonesian cuisine can be very spicy for the uninitiated, hujan does it very well. The appetisers were all superb, tuna, cerviche，fried squid. Watermelon and mint salad was amazing too. My friends like the fried rice, curry and octopus rendang. The corn was possibly one of the best corn dishes I've ever had. Is it 100% authentic Indonesian cuisine, no it's not. But will you love it and come back a second time in your trip, most definitely!

Hello Hujan. What a surprise find in the yoga-centric Ubud. Every dish we ordered got everyone gushing from the get-go. It’s Indonesian fusion at its best. I think the key differentiating factor is probably the ingredients used. We can taste the zest and freshness in every bite. The price point is not too steep. It’s very popular too so we were crouching low around a table meant for pre-drinks. Speaking of drinks, the strength of the drinks needs to be improved on. But we were so busy mmm-ing and aaah-ing over the food to care too much about our drinks. The calamari was everyone’s favorite, but it’s a close call.

OMG. This is a must visit restaurant in Ubud. Quirky recipes from all over Asia but everything is very very good. Also a nice bar downstairs to have an aperitif before dinner. My favorite place in Ubud.

Hujan locale serves some interesting Indonesian fusion food. The taste and ingredients are Indonesian at heart. Overall the food and dining experience is very good. The food didn’t particularly stand out so I couldn’t give five stars. The restaurant is located in a house in the heart of Ubud. The downstairs of the house is the lounge and the upstairs is the restaurant.

Recommendations: braised short rib, corn, turmeric rice

I came here with my wife and son. We ordered the fish dumplings, braised short rib, salt baked fish, side of corn, and the fernheads with salted fish.

1) the fish dumplings were more like fish cakes then dumplings. I got wrapped up in the menu description saying it was the chefs mother in laws recipe. The dish was good and not great. I was expecting a dumpling and that affected how I liked this dish. Wouldn’t recommend this.

2) The braised short rib is pretty much ordered by every table at the restaurant. It is served in a warm broth and is paired with carrots and some local sprout type vegetables. This dish is super tender and tastes delicious. It is not Indonesian in any way though but I recommend ordering this dish.

3) The salt baked fish was recommended by the waitress. There are a lot of fish dishes on the menu and I think one of the curry based dishes would have probably been better. This dish is pretty spicy and I wouldn’t order unless you can handle some heat.

4) The corn was very good. They use a meat floss with the corn which is something I haven’t had before. There is a bit of heat in this dish but not that much.

Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Hujan locale. The food is good and the staff is very friendly. The interior decor is also really nice.

This place is seriously good, and it has some incredibly unique culinary options. I personally got a pale ale from New Zealand, as well as some oxtail dumplings. Both were exceptional. I also appreciated that when this place says something is spicy, they mean it. Their chili sauce definitely had me sweating!

We had a rather unexciting meal at noon santura, so we are rather skeptical of modern Balinese fare.
But Hujan Locale delivered.
The space was lovely, with street view on one side and temple on the other.
Sauce for octopus was full of flavors, beef short rib had a heartwarming broth, and the whole grilled fish.we were fighting over who gets what, especially the fish cheeks.
Heard, too late, the chicken and the crispy duck are the stars. Will just have to pay another visit.
