Ibu Rai Restaurant

Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. A nice selection of local and international dishes.
Definitely worth a visit for fish and the lava cake!

After two weeks in Bali (Kuta, Nusa Penida, Kubu and Ubud) we have to admit - we ate the best food at Ibu Rai. It was simply delicious and quickly prepared. Friendly staff and a great background story from the founder.

It was lunch time and it was pleasantly busy. But still, you didn't have to make a reservation for a table.
Staff were very friendly.

Service, food, price, nothing was right. The food is expensive but not particularly tasty. It's a waste of money. With this money, you can eat delicious food at any restaurant in Bali. My mother got sick while eating, so I ordered water, but she was ignored. She kept coughing because it got stuck in her throat, but she didn't even look at me. Even if you forgot to order water, it's surprising that they ignore you until the end when you keep coughing because you're in trouble. In the end, I went and got the water in person. I talked to them at the counter, but they didn't even apologize properly, talking about Indonesian among themselves. I don't understand why the Google rating is so good.

A bit of wait for the food but it's worth it. The presentation of the dishes are much better than the menu description!

Unfortunately there was a metal wire in the food. For this reason, unfortunately it was inedible for me afterwards. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great either because we were immediately evicted shortly after we paid because the table was definitely needed for other customers. Ambience quite nice but very crowded… Not again!

Service: The service was welcoming

Food: Many great options to select from.

Overall: they were very accommodating for us as we stopped there for a quick bite before being picked up by our free Shuttle from Ubud Valley Boutique Resort right in front.

Very good restaurant, the setting is really great, we dine in a small open courtyard, the prices are equivalent to restaurants of the same type. The Manado Brenebon was really excellent, just a bit spicy if you're not used to it.

Great healthy option for lunch. I did cheat and have the calamari, but it was great! I followed with an amazing veggie wrap made in a thin rice type paper. It was amazing!

Ibu Rai was the first restaurant my husband and I ate at in Bali having just come from the airport and dropped off our bags. What a wonderful introduction to the cuisine with which we would fall in love! The food, service and atmosphere is wonderful, and the prices, like most of Ubud, are wonderful!

Great restaurant, beautiful environment and feels super romantic in the evening, if you in ubud centre stop and check it out!

Service:
We came with 4 people to Ibu Irai and were welcomed to the restaurant. We ordered and waited for our food so as every tourist did in the restaurant (so far so good). Meanwhile we saw that other tourists got a complementary appetizer which we did not received at all (we thought that they ordered an appetizer and didn't ask the other tourists). Before we finished our food the waitress wanted to take our plates as a sign to hurry up. We said that we were still eating and that the plates can't be taken. After I asked for the bill, I asked some tourists that were sitting behind us if they ordered the complementary appetizers. They told us that they were complementary and didn't even asked for it. So I called the manager and asked why we didn't got any and he replied to us as they only give complementary appetizers from 18.30 while it was 18.20! We sat at the table from 17.15 and other were getting them too. I hope it's not because of our ethnicity that we didn't receive the complementary appetizers since I didn't see tourists from the same ethnicity at the restaurant.

The food:
We ordered the spicy chilli prawns, 2 chicken cashewnuts and a beef ribs with red beans. The chilli prawns and chicken dish were ok. We had better ones in Bali, but the beef ribs were tasteless and packed with the fat of the beef.
