Came with my Japanese hubby and tried the food. He was wondering if the chef is a Japanese cos according to him, the nasu (eggplant) miso tastes perfect.
Not expensive at all, taste good and portion is a lot for a side dish.
The chicken wings are out of this world. Cocktails are rather diluted. Everything else was good but not wow. Love the environment though, such a cute place. Just focus on the chicken wings.
Their Tebasaki is the best I’ve ever had! I mean it! You must order them The price is very reasonable for authentic Japanese cuisine like this! Hidden gem in Bali Just go through the small door and the path, you’ll be satisfied with a wonderful feast!
Authentic Japanese food, for over more than 30 years in Ubud. Absolutely lovely atmosphere and delicious (home) cooking. Don't expect sushi or ramen but traditional Japanese food.
My partner and I both live in Ubud and would come here quite frequently. But tonight it took almost 1.5 hours to get our food. That is completely unacceptable, we both dont expect timely service since we both know better but almost 2 hours and you should be ashamed. And to top that off some awful obnoxious ubudian bule parents let there 5/6 year old child walk around completely naked. In what world is that acceptable, aside from the obvious awful parenting you need to educate your staff to have a back bone to tell these people off.
Instead of maintaining good service or doing better, they going worse. Dine in on saturday night it's a full house. Wait for our food for 1 hour. I understand it's busy, all tables are full but looking at how slow the waitress work at the front, I wonder how slow in the kitchen. No even apologize for waiting food too long. How do you handle hungry people at your restaurant when thry have to wait for 1 hour and more? Maybe if your mise en place done well, it could be anticipated. But oh well what do I know I dont work there. Disappointing.
Disini masakan nya sperti masakan jepang rumahan. Agak lama datang makanan nya. Tp tidak masalah karna kami puas dengan makanan yg enak begitu datang dibawakan oleh pelayan nya.
Banyak pepohonan yg maaf kurang terurus. Bawa anti nyamuk dan serangga apabila datang kesini.
Great place serving Japanese food if you want a change from indonesian food. Nice environment to chill and hang out although location is a bit outskirt however the reasonable prices make up for it. Tebaki chicken wings are a must order, washed down with mugs of Bintang Beer.
I've been coming to Kagemusha for years and it's always solid - not stellar but always on point and a nice change of pace from Indonesian food. It's a great secluded location and the staff, whilst usually very quiet are friendly and helpful.
Came back to Osaka. The good was damn good! Ordered a lot of stuff, ate everything. The portions are great and so is the taste. It was so good I didn't even took pictures The restaurant is cozy.
One of Ubud's "old" establishments, Kagemusha is a favourite not only among local Japanese residents but also for many visitors. Great affordable price with authentic taste and good portions. Great ton katsu, various donburis and ramens. Been their customers for 7 years.
Good luck finding a place in Ubud with less service-minded staff. Oh my gosh, every single request we made that ventured just a bit outside the menu was rejected. And rudely at that. And the food was very uneventful, tempura soggy and inari sushi bland. Like how do you mess up inari? Anyway, just a rude experience the whole way through. Avoid at all cost.
Family restaurant, food may take a while to come out, but the food is definitely great! There is a diversity of Japanese food, but Tonkatsu wasn’t crunchy the two times I went there. A variety of vegetarian options!
Qaint little place with homestyle Japanese cooking. Food was good, had decent menu selection, and prompt service. Donburi, Tempura, Udon, Soba, Salads, etc. Take note, no sushi or sashimi.
You will get tasty Japanese food with very cheap price! We had Karaage (fried chicken), Kakitama-jiru (egg soup), Katsuni (deep fried pork with egg), rice (big and small), Umeboshi (pickled plum) and two glasses of alco - which was about 216500 in total. Also small salads came too. All the food was good but unfortunately the staff were not friendly at all.: (
I do love Kagamusha. Rolled into Be Pashe starving a few minutes before 10pm on a Friday. Lotsa people eating, drinking, waiting for food etc. Me? Turned away. Rolled down to Kagamusha, walked in a few minutes after 10 and was welcomed and fed! Loyalty. There ya go.
Such a nice place. Tucked away it’s a secret for many and I would like it that way. Conveniently it’s just around the corner of my place. Authentic Japanese dishes and flavors. I believe the owners or the chef are Japanese. Love their miso soba and veggie dishes to combine in a noodles soup. I just throw everything in a big bowl and mix it together.
The best home made Japanese food ever in near UBUD. Freshly cook by owner. Very nice food. CONSISTENT in taste as always. Fully recommended. I came all the way from Denpasar just to eat dinner there
