The museum is laid out in the traditional style, with four exhibitions across the buildings at each compass point. There is commentary in English, although it doesn't always make complete sense. However, it gives you enough of an overview of art through time and the founding of the museum.
There is also an opportunity to buy art, if you wish (expensive).
There is a cafe on site, with the set lunch included in your ticket. The lunch can be meat or vegetarian, and on the day we visited was a simple but tasty fried rice.

This museum is the oldest Art Museum in Bali,  which specializes in modern traditional Balinese paintings  and wood carvings. The museum has beautiful grounds, and art is displayed in different buildings on the museum property. There is no air conditioning in the buildings. There is a toilet at the museum. There were some interesting exhibits. I especially liked the exhibit with traditional Instruments

Great place to explore Balinese art in Ubud. The museum is close by to Ubud Palace and Saraswati temple. I booked my tickets on klook app and it was easy to redeem them at museum. There are 4 sections / rooms, each dedicated to different periods of art. Some painting have an information board that gives context about the story. The museum also has workshops for music instruments, batik, masks etc. These workshops have separate fee, not included in the entry ticket. The museum has a beautiful garden and lotus pond, nice place to spend the afternoon, away from the crowd and heat.

Entrance is 145k, a very beautiful museum with beautiful paintings and very beautiful sculptures! The only negative point is that there are not enough descriptions of the works.
You will also have a meal included. I recommend this visit!

This museum is an amazing place to see old paintings dated as old as 1605. I managed to take picture of the oldest painting before reading that it's forbidden to take photos (no worries I didn't use flashlight). Looking at the paintings painstakingly detailed made was an awe experience for me. Most old paintings depicted Mahabharata and Ramayana scenes. Some are in good conditions, some are decaying and in bad conditions. Still, you can see the glory of the painting richness in color and details.
The 4 buildings are old some with water stains on the ceiling and spiderwebs on some windows. But the exterior of the buildings is nicely taken care of. The toilets are clean with unique doors.
I really wish the building can be renovated and those bad condition paintings can be restored. Let the present time look at these amazing paintings with wonder and not with pity.

The point, salah satu tempat yang rekomendasi selama liburan diubud.

If you are wandering around downtown Ubud and don’t have specific plan then you might consider this museum. The ticket is a bit expensive consider the living cost in Ubud.

The collections is mostly paintings with decent amount of wooden sculptures and contemporary art. Apart from presenting you South Asian cultures and religions. The most interesting thing is that the painting technique and media is quite different from what you see from the Louvre. And some interesting story of the relationship between Sukawati and American ambassader and president.

Plus you can gets free coffee with your museum ticket. (The quality of the coffee was not good tho).
