Neka Art Museum

Worth a visit if you like art. The Balinese colors are rich and the humorous works are unique, so you can have a satisfying time.

The 150k entrance fee is really expensive compared to prices in Bali. You can drink drinks at the cafe, but you have to pay extra for anything other than basic water.
There are many beautiful works on display.
I was able to learn about Balinese culture by looking at the works that were displayed by technique and era and depicting scenes from various periods in Bali.

The Neka Art Museum is beautiful in many ways - its many gallery buildings honor Balinese architecture splendidly; its gardens and outdoor fountains invite guests to pause and reflect; above all its vast collection of artworks, by Balinese and Indonesian as well as expatriate artists invite guests to admire the beauty that is Balinese heritage, culture and nature.

We visited this art museum to fill in an hour …. And stayed for two and a half! Such an interesting place, all sorts of paintings, carvings, sculpture. Lovely buildings and very quiet.

Some beautiful pieces. The layout was a bit confusing to navigate but other than that good visit. Took about and hour and a half to see everything.

Great examples of both local and expat artists work from Bali, both painting and sculpture, Expats included Ari Smit and Donald Friend.

Beautiful beautiful museum. I wish they featured more art from Balinese women/women in general. I think I only saw 2 pieces in the entire museum from women artists……

The collections are excellent. We will know development of painting in Bali. We will know the daggers history. We will know Balinese sculptures.

Wouldn't say the place has the potential to excite art connoisseurs, but it gives an incredible insight into Balinese culture and traditions. Has to be the first stop upon arrival to Bali.

Located right besde my place, I visited Neka museum. And I could have a glimpse of ancient life of Bali as well as that of contemporaries. I happened to know Aries Smit, great artist who landed on Bali as a Holland soldier in ww2. Many historic and cultural place can also tell you something more.
