Nyoman Warta Batik Class

True local, family style experience where you get to make a wonderful painting for yourself. Wayan and Made are so friendly and it was a joy doing it with them. I would go back again for sure.

We joined the Nyoman's Batic Class in February with my 12 years old daughter and 7 year old son. In the open air family garden we meet and selected what to draw. They are extremely warm and helpful at every step. All steps are joyful and at last step you have a masterpiece of your own. We loved the class it was both detailed and easy to apply, they guide you in each step. It lasted appro. 3 hours, but they are flexable in times. I thank them since we only make to arrive there at 3 they still accepted us to the lesson. I highly recommend any art lover to join and experience this batic workshop. Their place is at the center of Ubud so have an easy access. Very lovely family and enjoyable activity, thank you!

Amazing experience, very relaxing, almost meditative, and also fun. I did this 4 years ago and came back again today with friends. Family run, very friendly and helpful. It's not a business for them, it's more about spreading Balinese culture. They give you as much time as you need, I took 4 hours this time.

Me and Nicole had a great time. Good help from the teachers but still plenty to do yourself. This is the artwork from Nicole which looks really good.

We loved our Batik Art Class!

The class lasts 2-3 hours and includes your artwork, a sarong to prevent any dye or wax getting on you and all instructions.

Expect a chill setting where you get given a frame, pencil and then choose to either use a template to sketch or do your own design (I slightly modified one!).

We really enjoyed the whole process as you get complete creative freedom with colours and design. We both found it very therapeut
and any time we made a mistake we were told “it can be fixed” or that is just adds to the piece of art!

If you have a few hours free I really recommend this class!

Really relaxing and enjoyable experience, as a complete beginner it was easy enough to follow along and seeing your final piece of art at the end as your canvas transforms was amazing. The different techniques of wax and colour is beautiful to work with! Highly recommend!

We had Made and Wayan (the sons for Nyoman) take our family through this beautiful experience to design, draw and paint our batik. The entire process was so enjoyable for the family and we had an amazing time! 10/10 hospitality for the bros!

Nyoman is incredibly talented and knowledgeable about batik. He is very patient, and guides you through every step of the process, ensuring your batik comes out looking like a masterpiece. Excellent value for money, and you can buy original art pieces from his own collection. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Ubud, we will be back for sure.

Had a fabulous experience drawing and making our batik pictures. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic and able to cater for 10 people aged from 6 to 76 with a range of abilities. Thank you for an amazing 3 hours, we were all so pleased with our paintings. I thoroughly recommend having a go at batik painting here!

Family run batik class which many years of expereince! The environment was very welcoming and the class was exceptional! It took nealry 3 hrs for me to complete my batik and the father of the family helped me every step of the way by explaining color blocking, color dyes, and how to hold the wax pen. A great experience and a highlight of my trip in Ubud!

I had the best afternoon learning about and creating batik art with Nyoman and Wayan. Both are so helpful and patient, and the workshop is set in their homestead tucked away behind the hustle and bustle of the Ubud streets, making it super peaceful and relaxing.

You can either draw your own art or choose a drawing from some that these men have already done for you, meaning you can be as creative as you like on the day.

I really enjoyed the experience of learning a new skill in a beautiful setting with this talented and welcoming family!

An amazing class learning how to make batik! We stumbled across the raving reviews and were not disappointed. Nyoman and his son were very attentive and taught us all the steps with patience. If we needed any help/clarification, they were quick to provide it and they really encourage creativity. They made the principles easy to learn, and we are so happy with our end products as well! If you are looking for a fun activity to do, this would be a great individual or family activity. Highly recommend this wonderful experience!

My partner and I are very happy to have attended Nyoman’s class. They were 3 there and all very helpful. You can see how much they enjoy what they do, which is shown with how happy/satisfied their students are at the end of the class. I loved it so much that I am coming back again in a few days before I leave Bali The whole process of Batik is amazing and going home with your own work is even better!

It was a real great artistic & human experience that we have lived with my friend. We spent few hours there learning a lot about this traditionnal art. He took time to explain the technic & teach us a lot of tips. It was a great souvenir and I hightly recommend it.

I’m absolutely not creative or artistic but wanted to try something new. Not only are mister Nyoman and his son Wayan very good teachers, they even helped me succeed in making a true piece of art! Bli Wayan, Mr. Nyoman's son, explains the process of batik and patiently helps you practice the correct techniques to draw using the hot wax and prepare the design of your choice.

Pak Nyoman is a master artist and an excellent teacher. He watched me during the process and offered a perfect amount of support so that I could complete my batik independently but also be very satisfied with the result.

Mr. Nyoman, Mr. Wayan, and their whole family are so sweet, genuine, and kind, and you will truly feel like you've made friends in Bali. Many students like myself return year after year.

The batik studio is centrally located and easy to find. I loved that their studio is part of their family compound, so you step off the busy streets and into peace and quiet. You'll see how Balinese families live and make their offerings as they go about their daily life, and there are birds, calm dogs, and a few chickens to add to the natural, cozy environment. It's perfect for a morning or afternoon creating art and learning about Bali from some really special people.

This is an activity that all ages can enjoy, and they know how tp cater to all levels of experience.

What a lovely and calm environment to experience batik-making, seeing their old blind dog walks around and hearing bird chirping.

Batik is art and science itself. The layers of waxing, colouring and multiple washes needed to create the final product is not an easy job. It makes me appreciate batik even more!

I was quite clueless with the waxing and colouring as I cannot imagine the final product in my head. Had to rely heavily on the Nyoman to tell me exactly where to wax and colour.

Definitely had fun. Will recommend anyone who’s in Ubud to try this culture and art!

This Batik class was a great experience. It teaches you patience and it is easily done by beginners such as myself. Nyoman and his son are amazing people who are dedicated to their students. The place is a quiet haven amid palm trees, birds chirping and a chatterbox of a rooster. A place to meditate while painting and to heal the soul. I highly recommend it! Oh and you get to bring your own art at home, which is also really cool!

My girlfriend and I wanted to try a new Balinese experience. We came across Wayan and his father Nyoman’s Batik class, and were immediately interested. We learnt the entire process of using dye and wax on a cotton tapestry and created what turned out to be a beautiful piece of art that will forever remind us of Bali. It’s a 1 on 1 class so you’ll definitely get a personalised experience from the masters of Batik. We had such a wonderful time and highly recommend this experience. Wayan and Nyoman are both super friendly, humble and welcoming. I can’t believe I am saying this but I will miss them!

Nice people! Very friendly and helpful. Great price (you got batik lessons, you get to draw your own batik, and you can keep them with you in the end). You can even bring your own cloth (like blank t-shirts, etc), but if not they will provide you with the cloth. The place is quite comfy and has that Balinese ambience. It's better if you come early in the morning since it takes 3-4 hours.

Did a day trip to Ubud for this batik workshop. Nyoman the artist was very friendly and instructions were easy to follow. Definitely recommend this experience even if you don't think you can draw. Patterns provided.

A really good class. The class was very private with just the two of us and the teacher, Nyoman Warta. He was funny, patient and encouraging throughout the process. He guided my wife as she did her own design, and had some stenciled ones that I could copy for my design.

We had a great experience and would come back again if we are back in Ubud. Highly recommend contacting him along with other classes you may be thinking of. Just keep in mind that this is a pretty much one on one instruction here, and other classes seem to run upwards of 10 students at a time.

This Batik experience is great, we thoroughly enjoy the activity which took almost 4 hours. It’s a very friendly atmosphere and we chat throughout the time. And we are really happy with the final product as well! If I have a chance I will come back to do another Batik:)

You are welcomed into the home of a family to learn about there amazing talents for Batik. This is not a tourist trap, or a pretentious arts and crafts class this is an authentic experience with real locals who love to share their joy for the craft. We spent 4 hours there (most people were there for 2-3 hours) the father and son were so helpful and supportive and made sure you were confident in what you were doing. Absolutely anyone can access it and everyone that came through whilst we were making our batiks was happy with the outcome. I honestly can't recommend this more, it's right off one of the main streets so easy to get to. We came away with something really personal to take home with.

If you are in Ubud, take the time to take his class. He is in a great vacation too, very close to the big marketplace and many restaurants & shops. Suksma, we will be back!

It was the most valuable experience I ever had before in my life. The instructor was amazingly helpful and friendly. If you’re arty person, I definitely recomend it to bring your own sketches. If you’re not, still wonderfully fun activities for all ages. Creative your owns!

Was a great choice and I would highly recommend, no experience necessary. They are friendly and love to teach the art! Takes about three hours and after lunch you can continue your afternoon in the heart of Ubud.
