Phalam Batik & Souvenirs

Lovely shop where they show you around on how they make handmade traditional Balinese clothes and souvenirs using a batik technique with wax and painting onto various fabric clothes like satin and silk. Then take you to a shop where you can purchase the clothes or sarongs, scarfs, dresses, shirts and lots more variety. A good visit to appreciate those who make such lovely creative clothing using traditional Balinese techniques.

If you love to shop for local handmade batik fashion textiles and souvenirs, then this is the place for you.

Interesting but nothing special. You get a quick explanation of the manufacturing process that resembles the way they do (or did) it in many other countries. Then you are expected (but not forced) to buy something at the store. It's OK but it's definitely not a must-see place.

Beautiful place and have a guide to tell and show what is making the batik. Natural colour and traditional hand making techniques. Takes 2weeks to a month to process one piece of 3m batik.

Drove an hour to get here and all the staff were leaving early at 4.30pm. I guess I won’t be doing business with Phalam.

Phalam batik is basically a shop for Balinese souvenirs. They have live counters wherein you can observe how a cloth is made, how design is made on it and then how it's coloured.

It's situated on the main road in Ubud area and boasts of very good interiors. They have lot of souvenirs available with them from which you can choose the one for yourself.

The shop is little expensive when you compare it with the market rates. Advise to buy only after you check rates in few other shops.
