One of the most beautiful places i have ever stayed. It was really special. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, wanting to help however they can, like when i got sun burnt they brought fresh aloe vera to my room. As i said, it’s a really special place and you would feel lucky to stay here, calm and peaceful up in the mountains.

I have been eating at the Suma restaurant almost every day since my stay (+2 weeks). The local staff speaks English extremely well, they are very helpful and friendly. As for the food, it is truly fantastic, you can choose from a wide and diverse range of healthy foods, fresh juices and local products. All is served beautifully with a smile. I also work at the Suma restaurant during the day. The breeze, nice atmosphere and good music makes this a nice place to work on my laptop.

Last year I stayed at Sumberkima for a short 2 night stay that was so memorable I returned 2023 for almost 2 months. I’m ready to book for 2024. Why? I choose accommodations first for their pools. Swimming laps in the 30+meter pool was both exercise & meditation unparalleled like no other. The views are inspirational not just from the pool but rooms/villas too. The interiors of villas are so well designed from open air bathrooms, flooring, decorations all enhanced by flowering overhanging greenery. The variety of styles of villas make it feel like a unique, community embracing development, from traditional Bali loggia to craftsman /scandi. The restaurant’s food choices are multiple, healthy and reasonably price. There’s basic kitchen equipment in most villas which makes breakfast easy with kettle & induction stovetop. Breakfast was enhanced by the Suma restaurants baked sourdough bread, fruit jams, Jamu & kombucha. My only suggestion is if you plan to stay & cook some, stock up on food supplies. There are food staples at nearby markets & fresh fruits. Finally there is the staff who are kind, accommodating & efficient. This family run business ethos is welcoming & you can feel the care for the properties, the surrounding community & the employees who work there. I couldn’t have been more content, better cared for and inspired. It is a jewel.

Amazing view, high quality cuisine and the magical ambience of Sumberkima Hill. Their cacao drink for morning ritual is so so delicious.

We were checking out the hotel for our next visit because we were recommended by chef Suma’s Friend. A beautiful mountain retreat that can see the sumberkima village. We were interested because we think it could be a healthy getaway.

We saw the restaurant, and asked for table of 4. We were assigned a table by the smoking area. We asked for other table because my children are allergic to cigarette smoke, and there was some smoking smell. There were only 4 of us in that restaurant. And the waiter said no other table with unfriendly attitude.

We tried to sit down, read the menu, and suddenly the smell of smoking got stronger. We had to get out of the restaurant before my kids allergic react.

The food is amazing, high quality, I can't believe they can cook such nice European style of food. All fresh and healthy options. Grilled chicken is wow. I wish I have some restaurant like this in my country, and soooo cheap.

Delicious food and fantastic service, there is so much variety at Suma you can eat here each meal while staying and have something new to try each day.
The staff are friendly and attentive, very accommodating for any menu changes and additions which is a huge plus.

Experienced the worst service in this Suma Restaurant. Cannot rate the food as I decided to leave the restaurant before ordering. We were recomended about this Suma restaurant, by Chef Suma's friend, so we decided to pay a visit, but the host there is very discriminative as we are not staying at the Sumberkima Resort. We ask for non smoking table, but put to a table next to a window where outside is the smoking area, thats very weird for a so called Mountain Retreat, that is very unhealthy I suppose, and the host keep asking about wether we are staying in the resort or not. Thats is very strange, as there is nobody else inthe restaurant. Sorry Suma Restaurant, I have to give you this horrible review as in this time when hospitality service and tourism still need growing, and the personel is acting so unprpfessionally that can put negative impact in the growth.

Great breakfast with amazing views. Coffee and food are really good/high quality, and we used the ‘roomservice’ order via whatsapp a couple times- very convenient and quick.

The best thing we ate was surprisingly a margarita pizza. I’m a Melbournite where pizza is serious business and this would stand up even in the discerning streets of the inner North. The views are fantastic and the staff are attentive, kind and professional. Unfortunately this is where it ends. The owners (an old white guy and his partner) were a tense omnipresent force. They were there for almost every meal we had and would move around the restaurant to observe staff which made us feel very uneasy- I can only imagine how the staff feel- micromanaged I imagine.
Despite a veg forward menu, it is lack lustre and fails to celebrate anything Balinese (the lone nasi goreng had all the joy and flavour boiled out of it) - probably not surprising considering who is calling the shots.
I believe Suma had a Balinese sister restaurant who hasn’t survived/reopened since the pandemic, but incorporating a few of her dishes really would not go amiss until she is revived…

Breathtaking views served with carefully curated homemade food that brings an experience that is so memorable

Although the food and the views are great, the staff has quite a lot to learn about managing customers. We ordered a bottle of wine that my girlfriend tasted and she confirmed it was ok (she doesn't really know about wine) but, when I tasted it, it wasn't in good conditions. The staff and manager refused to acknowledge the bottle was not good and even blamed my girlfriend for confirming it was good. After some ackward discussion, they changed the bottle. It is very unfortunate to make customers go through that situation, when it's just a matter of changing a bottle.
Despite this, the food was excellent and highly recommended.

Used this restaurant a number of times for breakfast, lunch and dinner during our stay at Sumberkima Hill Retreat. Food, drink and service good and reasonably priced. One slight disappointment was the limited choice of Indonesian dishes. This was probably because the other restaurant on the retreat specialised in these. (We did visit there as well!)

Nice location nice villa so quite and recommended to free individual travellers who wanna escape from crowded places. Totally good!

Great restaurant with beautiful views over the valley and sea. Very friendly personal and tasty food. Every day they have different specials next to the menu. Personally I love the chili coconut curries (with generous portions of fish or shrimps)

The food here is excellent as well as being reasonably priced. Also has a wonderful setting overlooking Sumberkima Bay.

Went on a walk through the farmlands for 2 hours and ended up here at this beautiful restaurant. The view and the restaurant itself is stunning. The wind blowing on our faces as we ate. The food was very nice - especially the fruit juices with lychee, coconut cream, dragon fruit etc. Had 4 non-alcoholic drinks, two main dishes, one side between us and paid around 150000 rp each. Not bad considering the view and the fact that they drove us home for free in the hotel buggy! The iced coffee was a little disappointing but otherwise great:)

The staff ARE VERY UNTRAINED but nice. In fact, they’re one of the reason why we stayed for as long as we did. 9/14 days. With that in mind it is unfortunate that the owners are not training them enough. The staffs english needs A LOT OF IMPROVEMENT and training on proper dining etiquette. One guy was trying to open a champagne bottle with a wine cork? Again, not the fault of the staff but lack of training.

Food is good on most days.

One last thing.

You want your bill at the end of the meal? Good luck, we gave up on waiting 15-20 minutes for it, so we began to walk out and eventually get to it.
