Taco Beach Grill Mexican Restaurant Seminyak

Unfortunately a very disappointing experience despite good reviews online. Tacos were soggy, the veg wet, overall not very appealing. Pretty good guac and dips but not enough to make up for the tacos or the poor ambience.

Me and my husband were really excited to visit this place as we're true Mexican food lovers. Based on previous reviews, we figured it's going to be a great experience. Unfortunately, it was anything but.

As we arrived at the restaurant, they didn't have any available tables and we, along with quite a few other people, had to wait for an indefinite time. I realise we should've made reservations so that was on us, however they gave us a ransom wait time which turned out to be much longer.

Once we finally got a table, we'd been waiting for menues gor a looong time, till we decided to just get them ourselves. It took another obscene amouny of time to be able to put an order in, although there were a lot of severs and the restaurant itself is quite small. We waited for our margaritas for well over 20 minutes until my husband decided to check if anyone was ever going to actually make them. Once we finally got them, they were of very poor quality and my frozen one was just basically done on the rocks with minimal blending.

We ordered two tacos, and since we had waited for over 20 minutes for those (again - it's a small restaurant with only a few tables), after 3 attempts I managed to order s queso from the starters, hoping this would come a bit faster to hold us off until the tacos came. Around 10 minutes later I received what they called was a queso (no tacos still), but what was actually something that just looked like cheese out of a can and definitely not queso. We sent the "queso" back since it was not appetising at all and continued to wait and enquire about our tacos. When we finally got them, they actually tasted decently, but by no means were they worth the 40 minute wait. By that time we had interacted with a few other guests as well, who had been there well before us, but had still not even got their drinks.

To salvage the night (after we were treated incredibly rude by one of the servers when we asked for the check), we headed on to another Mexican place, which luckily fully hit the spot. All in all, I would absolutely not recommend visiting this place. There are many way better options in Bali.

I've eaten at Taco Beach Grill on my last 2 visits to Bali. After my first visit the the food was so great that when planning our next trip I booked ahead online before leaving home to make sure we could get a table (it's a smallish restaurant and we were a party of 8).
And I'm so glad we came back. Everyone of our group declared it their favourite meal of the trip. It was taco Tuesday so we stuck with the theme and between us tried almost all of them. All were fantastic. The food is so-cal inspired mexican with local influences and it comes together beautifully.
A big thank you to the owner Bob who made us all feel welcome and appreciated. See you next trip!

Great selection of really tasty tacos! Juice is all freshly made to order. Would highly recommend!

This place serves one of the best Tacos and Quesadillas in Seminyak, plus the Tortilla chips and Salsa is a treat to the taste.

We actually had to walk out of here after served our freezing cold food that we already had to send back because the order was incorrect.

The drunk owner who wandered round interrupting everyone’s meal told us our money was ‘no good here’ when we offered to pay for our drinks.

After reading other low rating reviews we can completely validate them, do not waste your time and money in this place - it was also filthy.

We were really excited to try this highly rated Mexican restaurant near our hotel. Sadly, it was such a disappointment. As you walk by the kitchen on the way to the restroom, you can see directly inside. The floor was dirty and kitchen was a mess. Our food came out fast yet cold. The meals are not fresh or even reheated properly. We ordered three entrees and two were cold (not even warm.) When we paid our bill, the machine would not connect to the internet and somehow the charge went through and was then reversed so it had to be processed a second time. Behind the counter, produce was stored on the floor directly next to trash.

While the restaurant needs major improvement, there were some pros: the mahi mahi tacos were great (and cooked fresh!), the flour tortillas are handmade, the service was kind, and there are a lot of vegetarian options!

The best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten outside of Mexico! True story. The prawn tacos were to die for! So delicious! I will be back for sure. Thank you:)

Sometimes you have a hankering for something not rice or noodles based. Stumbled upon this place when strolling and food was good, service was pleasant, prices were reasonable given location.

Owner's banter is hilarious after soaking in his alcohol buzz. He recommended the squid taco which was indeed delicious. Very generous portions for every dish. Ordered the tuna, beef and squid tacos. All of which were amazing.

This place is 10/10.food was great and drinks were even better. Ayu is one of a kind. Definitely have to come here if you visit Ubud

We were really hungry when we came here, and even though we were hungry, i dunno.we dont find the food was delicious tho.there's that taste of you dont cook it with dedication kind of felling.u can tell if the food was cooked with dedication/love with a food that you just cook it with "it is what it is".
place is cozy enough, only bike parking, they have GLUTENFREE and vegetarian option.

We were really looking forward to eating at Taco Beach Grill after reading all the amazing reviews.
The table & chairs felt sticky, the laminated menus were falling apart. We ignored the red flags, buoyed by the positive reviews. When I questioned the waitress about the ice (large irregular chunks) she looked stricken & exclaimed “I bought it at the supermarket”. For those that don’t know (we didn’t), all ice from the supermarket is manufactured, cylindrical & has a hole. This ice was not.
We understand vendors have been struggling due to covid, but they shouldn’t resort to cutting corners on food hygiene & safety.
Unfortunately for us, we’ve never been so violently ill after having eaten at Taco Beach Grill. Wasted three precious days of our family holiday & ended up on antibiotics

What a lovely dinner we had here. Great selection of tacos and quesadillas, and the wife loved her salads. Everything was fresh, and delicious, and the flavors were amazing. I would 100% recommend this place. Staff was lovelyl. Will come again for sure.

I can't believe how good the food is. You have to try it to believe it. Ask the owner for his recommendation we the birria and it was amazing. Also loved the smoked duck tacos.

Nice staff but the food was realy unpleasent, ive eaten alot of mexican and this is not great. My biggest complaint was it didnt look clean unfortunately this dawns on you once your there a while.

I am only adding to the original review as the owner has responded with a fairly amusing but toxic responce.
It is very telling that he has so much time to respond toxically to every negative review and stalking there past reviews when maybe cleaning his premises maybe be better time spent. His understanding of the brittish culinary scene is as limitted as his understanding of how to take critiscm.
As you request more clarity ia happy to give. Your dinning tables are finished with tiles on top. They are broken and dirty and there is actual gunge in the grouting.

The Taco Beach Grill is a very Good Place to eat! The Food is amazing and Not expensive for what you get!
Especially the Avocado Fries, Corn Fritter Tacos and the asparagus Tacos were something we Never ate before. From my Point of view the best mexican Food I ever eat.

100% must eat here! Best Mexican food I have ever had. VEGAN OPTIONS GALORE! I got the “Can’t believe it’s not chicken burrito” even has vegan sour cream. Salas’s is very authentic and delicious. Also, had a fresh asparagus salad perfect combo of tang, creamy avocado, crunch from pumpkin seeds amazing. Honestly everything was top notch. Owner, Bob, is as nice as they come and you can tell he is passionate about making delicious food, balanced, with good mouth feel too. Loved seeing his passion for beautiful delicious food. Husband got a pork chimichanga that was also amazing.
We will be back before we leave Bali, hopefully more than once.

VEGANS- he has amazing vegan cheeses and vegan meats (to die for but no animals had to die for.)

Food was average and not groundbreaking. Owner has to be one of the most unprofessional people I've ever encountered in a restaurant. He presented himself in a dirty t-shirt and shorts and gave us a tatty menu. When we asked what was recommended, he proceeded to answer us in a deadpan manner to the point where it wasn't clear if he was serious or not. I asked if he had a drinks menu as there was no beverage options on the tatty menu he provided us. He simply replied "No" and then said to my friend that he was "the brains" and I was the "brawn". I almost walked out of the restaurant as I had just asked a question about the drinks as there were no drink options on the menu provided and this owner insinuated that I was stupid for asking this which was quite insulting and not the service one would expect from somebody taking your food order. Very unprofessional behaviour from the owner and I most certainly won't be coming here again. The food was average and a little overpriced so it doesn't compensate for the owners bad attitude. Stay away from this place.

The food here is fantastic. I eat here at least weekly, the flavors are amazing, the prices are great and the food is the most authentic I have had outside of Mexico. Try the beef birria. Lots of vegetarian food option too.

Love this place. Their vegan options are amazing, dishes remind me of home. Always something new featured. Their vegan cheeses and meat substitutes are incredible. Obvious a lot of care is put into their food and service. Great to dine in and take alway.

Overall, it's ok. Service was OK. Taste wasn't what I expected. Ambiance was too hot for my liking. Taco usually quite cheesey, but I didn't taste any cheese in it. The beef was ok

I have been coming to Seminyak for years. I have never had a bad meal at Taco Beach Grill it has only got better over the years.
I can highly recommend the TRIPPLE BEEF TACO along with meeting the owner Bob you will not leave hungry.

The tacos are DELICIOUS. Already thinking of coming back tonight as I'm writing this review because it really tastes THAT good. They have beef, chicken, seafood, and pork tacos. I also like their roasted pumpkin salad with that yummy caramel mmmmmm

The best mexican food in Bali, I ordered beef tenderloin quesadillas and Tacos. They have 25k tacos every tuesday, the spices is strong and delicious! The owner is really friendly, I definitely coming back!

Overpriced, mediocre food and small portions. With so many other great Mexican restaurants in Bali I'd give this one a miss.

Today I went here for breakfast and again for lunch. Fantastic tacos! Tons of options, and so far everything I've tried has been great. I'm not vegan, but plenty of options for you if you are. Will definitely be going back.

Crazy good taco’s you have to check this place out, we tried 5 different ones and all were amazing. Favourite was the fish taco. Love the care and attention to detail that goes into making these the best tacos (probably that best I’ve had). Great to meet Bob and the team who gave us some great recommendations. They also have really great vegan options.

The food is excellent and recipes have been refined to really give you good authentic Mexican flavors. Currently they have a ‘can’t believe it’s not fish Tempe taco’ and gave it a whirl: I actually was saying out loud to myself while eating it “I can’t believe it’s not fish” lol; it’s that well put together. I get their burrito bowls often and always pleased with quality and consistency of their items. Thanks guys keep making great stuff!

The owner and the staff were cordial. The food was lovely too. I definitely recommend it for a calm atmosphere with mates.

Best tacos in Bali hands down! Babi guling and the duck confit tacos are insane! Order the tempura mahi taco (not on the menu - a friend told me) it will change your life!

The most authentic Mexican food I've found in Bali. The food was fast, filling and reasonably priced. Friendly owner, and the staff was helpful but didn't hover. Their salsa roja was so tasty, definitely worth the drive from Sanur. I'm not usually a dessert person, but their new crustless apple pie with salted caramel sauce was delish! Interesting vegetarian options, can't wait to go back.

Taco Beach Grill is such a lovely surprise in Bali. Everything has that homemade touch that you can tell was made with love. Here you can find everything from classic Tex/Mex flavors to dishes with an Indonesian twist. Also be on the lookout for surprise specials. Last time I was there the owner was Barbecuing Ribs out front with 3 completely different homemade sauces and fixins’! What a treat! I definitely recommend this spot if you visit Bali.

Tasty, inexpensive, and creative Mexican dishes. Try the babi guling tacos, a mixture of Bali taste with Mexican cuisine, creative but a bit lost of character. But the roasted pumpkin salad is a very clever mix, I don't know whether it's a fusion or authentic Mexican, but it is a very pleasant blend of taste. All the ingredients compliments each other, pumpkin, avocado, cilantro, pumpkin seeds, and a splash of lime juice. Very recommended place to experience new taste in a mix of Bali and Mexican traditions

Great food, awesome service. You just feel when an owner of a restaurant is personally involved and cares about his guests. Me and my friends always loved the healthy Mexican food there. Looking forward to come again soon

Went last night 7/11/2020 very disappointed, got the pork on fire tacos and there was no sign of chilli at all, very poor, and the chilli poppers were the same, a weak red chilli with no heat whatsoever and too much cheese, wont be going back.

Simply put, this is the best Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico/US. Fresh, scratch made, and most importantly, amazing price. This is a true gem in Seminyak, and easily the best Mexican food in Bali. Bob (the owner) is incredibly hospitable and always makes his guests feel like they are home. I come here multiple times every trip to Bali, and its always my first and last stop on the island. The pork skin en salsa verde tacos are unreal. Definitely a must visit!

Fish tacos tasted off. Only had one. Was violently ill a few hours later and have lost a day of vacation, spent throwing up.

L. A.girl here who'd drive deep down into Mexico for JUST the right food. Taco Beach Grill's better! They do in Bali the best of what's Mexico: fresh local ingredients, traditional recipes. BUT ALSO what wouldn't be done in Mexico/other parts of Latin America by using fresh local INDONESIAN ingredients & creating amazing unique tastes. EVERY WEEK. Husband & I love it, try to stop by when we go through Bali. Homemade "Not Right in the Head" hot sauce is to die for.

The food was exceptional. Service was good for a large group of 17. Highly recommend as a must do in Seminyak.

I’m covering a lot of taco places here in Bali for my YouTube channel and blog - this place was one of the last places on my list to check out. They have the best tacos in Bali! I’m glad I saved it for the end because they set the bar high. Their tacos are larger than your usual servings and offer up locally inspired options like the Balinese Babi Guling pork and Pork on Fire, even their sage infused caramel roast Pumpkin Taco would please any carnivore - it might actually be my favourite! Their tortillas are house made and they ask make chicharrones which garnished some of the tacos.
If you’re a foodie and love tacos - then do yourself a favour and come here. They have other delicious options on the menu we shared so even if you’re not into tacos you’ll find something delicious.
Turns out the owner Bob spent over 20 years in Mexico and is quite a food enthusiast and his passion comes across in the flavour profiles. Don’t even get me started on the house made salsas!

Mexican Food in Bali? Very pleasant surprise. Very nicely balanced spiced flavourful food. We had simple guacamole and chips, barbecue Mexican corn and the vegetable burritos. Excellent!

Been all over the world including Mexico but I think I got the best of it in Bali at Taco Beach Grill. Wife's immuno-compromised so we've got to be very picky, this place is clean as a whistle and has open-view kitchen. Loved the (very low prices esp for the area) delicious food, told them so, staff surprised us with this gorgeous home-created dessert.

Another good option for a coeliac. The menu leads you to the taco options where for a small fee soft corn tortilla can be used. The others who ate normal meals really enjoyed the authentic Mexican flavors tucked away in Seminyak

Back in Bali again and it's straight to Bob's place, better known as Taco Beach Grill. Love, love, love this place. Went straight for the babi guling taco while my vegetarian partner went for the rice and beans plate (She swears by it.) Absolute heaven, and the margaritas definitely helped create a great night out once again. Can't rave enough about Taco Beach Grill. Go there!

Cute Mexican coloured eatery serving excellent tacos, guacamole and of course burritos.cold beer and from mild to seriously spicy sauces, Taco Beach Grill is our go to for lunch or dinner. I gather the Taco Tuesdays are outstanding! See you there tomorrow.viva Mexico.
