The Golden Saffron

There is only
one word to describe the food at The Golden Saffron, Bali…. Horrible. We tried out the Indian and Indian Chinese food.it was avoidable, although the service was good. Ambience was dark.nothing to rave about.

There is no Zero rating else I would have given that.
Pathetic service, the staff is not able to understand the order I am placing from the menu and staff is still getting confused at the end.
I explicitly asked no green chilli and less spicy and he made the most spicy food filled with green chillis

Judy hyped restaurant with not so good food. We tried butter paneer masala, mix veg curry and rotis. All were below average. Noodles were also average. There are other good restaurants in the area.

Uka-uka tempatnya, parkir disini tiba² ban mobil saya kembes dirobek, kata orang² itu biasanya kelakuan anak yg punya kontrakan karena gangguan jiwa dan sering bawa pisau kemana-mana.

A place with nice ambience and courteous staff. Taste is good but prices are little high but you can consider paying it for services. If you are in Bali its a place to have dinner atleast once.

Good indian food. Sometimes you need to explicitly call out gravies else, they bring dry version for sides.

We have food from Golden Safffron many times during our stay in Bali. My kids liked all food and fresh juice. Highly recommended.

The food tastes OK, but the drinks are outrageously priced, with a single person spending over $40 USD, which is a bit outrageous in Bali, and not at all compatible with the environment here.
Service is very poor, the customer has not finished eating, the waiter to come to collect the customer tableware, very inexplicable.

The food was amazing with the amazing view to enjoy while having dinner.

Been living in Bali for 10+ years, love Indian food and been to many resto, but just realized a place on Sunset Road is now turned to be The Golden Saffron. Great location and accessibility.

I went to have late lunch/early dinner yesterday and super delighted with the experience.

We had a shared meal veg and non veg (butter chix, palak paneer, tikka, roti), all are super tasty, flavorsome with the right portion.

Price is on medium side, we spent IDR 600k+ for a meal of 3 persons, could easily be more in other place.

Staff is friendly with warm greetings, decor was cozy with the right temperature. They have bigger room upstairs suitable for groups. I am picky on toilet and glad that it was clean and well ventilated.

It was late afternoon, around 16: 30 ish, but already 5-6 tables occupied with guests.

Will come back again for sure.

Not worth your time. Servings are small and expensive for what you get. Chicken not tender. They're just ripping people off now.

Very very average indian hotel lot of crowd no proper restrooms but no ther go in that tourist spot

Very warm hearted and cooperative staffs, food quality was very delicious.the portion and price are affrodable, enjoying the dinner time there complete with nice ambience lovely experienced ever.
Gulab jamun was very yummy

We had a very bad experience going here in the midst of rain. Food taste was not at all good and burnt out smell is coming from the biryani that we've ordered. We returned and they sent other biryani which rice was not all properly cooked as shown in the below snap. Another biryani is full of Oil and doesn't have any taste.

We made a mistake of going there and I recommend not to go in this restaurant as taste is not good and too pricey.

Authentic Indian food in Bali. Loved the butter chicken, must try it out. The staff were super friendly and did an amazing job bringing our food out within minutes of ordering. Definitely visiting again if I get a chance.

The service is good, the bartender is good, the manager is friendly. The food is delicious, it's best to have lunch at golden saffron. Food arrangement is also good and attractive. Don't forget that the chef is very good at cooking, very good and for this price it's really worth it️️.

Their Candlelight dinner service is horrible. Food tasted awful we ordered Indian meal and it was disguesting. Food was served cold and probably two days old food.wont recommend at all

The food is very good and the place is nice. It’s very cozy and the music is very good. The food is hot and fresh with a lot of spices. Will come back again.

Good place to have Indian food, it's on the main road if you are traveling anywhere from airport or from/to ukuwatu / Canggu. We ordered chichen home style it was good the roti/breads were fresh. Also had the briyani which was decent enough.

We were sceptical about visiting this place based on reviews, but other Indian places were faar and closed hence we gave this place a try and it was a good decision as the dining experience was good. We liked the naan - it was as good as we get it in India. The paneer sabzi and daal were also good. I would recommend this place for Indian food

Pity the minimum is one star, ‘this deserves a minus 5.

There were three of us an another table of three who had been served their food when we arrived. There were no other customers all evening.

The waitress could not answer our questions about food items on the menu.

Having gone through the menu, I mentioned to the other two with me that the menu was far too big for them to do justice to Indian food.

After she had taken our order, she promptly came back, no Bindi (lady finger) in stock. I chose another dish.

Finally, our starters Papri Chat and vegetable samosas arrived. The samosa were ok, I have had much better from corner shops. The Papri Chat was a very big disappointment, it was nothing like a Papri Chat, the cook had cobbled some crackers as base and covered them with chopped onions, tomatoes, very tiny pieces of boiled potatoes and some obscure chutney.

I complained and the cook came to talk to us. I told him, that what he had knocked up was not Papri Chat and told him if the ingredients, which included loads of fresh yogurt which was also missing. He just stood there. I had to tell home to go and prepare our main meal.

We had ordered 2 tandoori rotis, there were a disappointment as the tandoor had not bee fired up and the rotis looked raw neither any sign of the usual fluffyness nor the odd burn mark one finds on tandoori roti cooked on full head of the tandoori oven. The Peshawari Nan was also a big disappointment and seemed have been a left over from previous service, the stuffing was bone dry and un recognisable.

As my companions were locals and no knowledge of Indian cuisine, I did not want to spoil their enjoyment by making a fuss.

After our meal I wanted to treat my companions to Indian deserts and Masala tea. They had Kulfi and Pistachio ice creams on the menu. We ordered Pistachio and the waitress came back with no Pistachio ice cream in stock. By now I had had enough and asked for the bill.

Would you believe it, they added 18% tax which was just under 94,000 IDR. I saw this scam, but kept quiet for the sake of my companions. No other restaurant that we ate at charges tax on top of the displayed prices. That includes The Hard Rock Cafe in Kuta Beach.

Avoid this restaurant at all costs, unless you want to eat food which is an insult to Indian food and be ripped off with an 18% tax charge.
Extremely bad value for money and a disastrous evening.

Today we are going to dine at the Punjabi Grill, we bumped into it and it’s owners on our walk back to our hotel. These people were very warm, friendly and spoke Punjabi. The grills and tandoor are visible to the customers. Looking forward to tonight at the Punjabi and some decent real Indian food.

Golden saffron is good for foody people, buffet was good both options were available vegetarian and non veg

Good authentic Indian foods. Kids friendly. Variety of Vegetarian Indian foods available. Reasonable price. Romantic setup. The only place in Bali where you offer free drinking water upon arrival.

This place is the best place to eat indian food in my opinion, the food is fantastic! And the owners are very nice and humble. I would highly recommend eating there if you want to eat indian food of course. A 5 star rating from me! And they even give us free mouth freshener straight from india after eating our lunch/dinner

This is a best place to Indian food because I like the chicken roll, chicken lollipop, samosa, chicken kheema, cheese naan, garlic naan, kebab, biryani, and yummy tasty daal well all of you should eat here

Very expensive for what is it. At 7pm they were already running out of food from menu and even though you repeatedly asking for non spicy food all the dishes were super hot because waiter doesn't understand what you are asking for or hasn't idea how is the taste of each dish. I kind of liked just samosas. For standard dinner we paid around IDR 400K and the food wasn't amazing.

Great Indian restaurant very close to airport. Good spot to stop for a hearty meal. Nice vegetarian /non veg Thali can be had for about INR 700, or you can order specific items from menu. Buffet options are also available. Beach is closeby.

No outdoor seating available, alcohol is served, can seat around 50+ pax I guess. Restaurant is getting popular with both locals and visiting Indians. Parking available for 2 vans may be.

We visited here for lunch soon after arriving in Bali last Sunday- was good start to our trip.

Great place for Indian food. Authentic Indian dishes. I had fish thali. Both fish fry and fish curry tasted yummy. The fritters are a must try here. And so was the mango lassi

After few days of local food, definitely this turned out to be a great choice for Indian food. Good taste, friendly staff. Definitely worth the visit.

Lot of choices in the menu - it is really big (about 20 pages). Food in general was good, we all liked it. Except the Lassi that was sour. Bath rooms could be little more clean.

Really good India food u can find. Difficult to find Indian restaurant. It is a Central place, good ambience and set up. People craving for Indian food can go this place, won't be disappointed. Just look up on map, take the cab. We had biryani, spices were great

Great Indian food at Bali. It is a must visit. I came here after a hectic delayed flight and enjoyed each and everything I ordered here! Good, tasty, fresh Indian food, polite staff, fast service.

Food was great on taste and flavor. Tried the Culcutta and Hydrebad biryani.their Raita always bring a smile on my face.superb good. Love it.

That was my genuine comment on this restaurant in the starting. (Aug 2017 - Jan 2018) this was the time range. Myb not exactly. I personally recommended this restaurant to.many of my friends over her in Bali for their taste and reasonable price and obviously their service. We also have conducted Diwali dinner last last year, (imagine the staffs created a pathway with little candles as it was similar to "diyas" and that really impressed me and my fellow friends and that make us to go there often.

But lately (March 2018), the food was out of taste. I should pull all those words which stated in the first paragraph. Such a disappointment. Imagine chat puri was served with chilli sauce and mayonnaise instead of chuttney? Service was so bad. The next was the waiter got so complicated and so messy in taking order and serving our orders as well. We ordered "A" they serve us "A^2". So I decided to talk to the manager, as in just wanna let he know about the taste and the service in very polite manner but it turn out into havoc. (March 11) we went there with a group of 3 and ordered mushroom biryani, nan, white rice, palak, bendhi. It took them about 30 min to 45 min to get the food done.
So while waiting i told the waiters can I meet your manager, (as I've spoke to her before for arranging my Diwali dinner last year, I still remember her face clearly and she was right at the counter while using her mobilephone. She didn't even bother to come over an talk to me. I was so pissed off but who cares, i tot of not coming there again but my blood rushed once my biryani arrived. It was not even biryani. As all know biryani is cooked with basmathi rice but I only could see half of the pot was with the normal white rice. That is nott biryani, its called pot rice. Next was the white rice, it was half cooked not even 3/4. I was so disappointed with the food.
