UP2U Surf School Bali

Fantastic surf school providing quality lessons for half the price of similar schools in the area. We had a beginners lesson for 2 hours and the instructor was lovely and patient and really encouraging. He was able to explain our mistakes, alongside the owner who took photos for us and gave us feedback during a break halfway through the lesson, which was so helpful for improvement. By the end of the lesson we were consistently catching waves right up to the sand.
10/10 recommend!

My husband had a great time surfing. He may have found a new sport to work on! I only gave a 4 star because the location although it being great with waves, it was hard to work around all the other people learning around us. It would of been nice to have a bit more open water to explore and not feel like your going to run into other people. Thank you for the experience.

Unfortunately, me and my girlfriend cannot recommend this surf school. When booking I had to ask several times so that I could get the link for the transfer, which was ok from my point of view. When we arrived no one really greeted us, the course leader was annoyed right from the start and we felt really uncomfortable during the course. He constantly rolled his eyes when something didn't work out the way it was supposed to. From a technical point of view, everything was great, but you still need to work on the social communication skills.

Note: After the feedback above, the owner came up to me and had a very nice conversation with me. He made us several offers for compensation, unfortunately we no longer had time to use them. We raised the stars from 2 to 4 because we think it was more stupid coincidences that occurred during our visit.

Had a great experience today with UP2U. They have helped me enormously and have even ensured that I can now surf independently!

Very good instructions, supportive teacher and great location. Additional important feature is that place has shower and after surfing one can wash off salt before going into town (if you want to use showers on the beach you have to pay for it extra)

I did 3 private lessons with UP2U and it was great. I got guidance in water from my instructor and the picture analysis after surfing were both helpful. Allowed me to progress to a hard board and surf independently. I look forward to returning to rent a board.

UP2U is the best surf school in Kuta/Seminyak in my opinion.
I took my beginner and advanced course here and both were very good. I was able to learn a good basic and focus on working on my weaknesses, especially in the advanced course.
I found the feedback and tips at the end of the lesson particularly helpful.

The booking via email was very quick and the communication was very smooth and good.
The owners pay close attention to the surf reports and may give you another time where the conditions are better.

I also think the price-performance ratio is the best here.

I have also recommended the surf school to other friends who were also very enthusiastic about both the coaches and the whole organization.

A friend in Germany is also a surfer and in conversation with him, he confirmed to me that the way the surf school teaches and suggests improvement is spot on.

I can only recommend this school.

First off the customer service was beyond lights out. I realized the day before I needed to move my surf lesson to a day later. Most places would take the money, and say, sorry, you need to rebook and pay again. Not UP2U surf. Paul emailed me back in short time and gave me two options the following day.
Not only that, safety is their first priority. I got am email explaining that the surf conditions weren’t quite right, and we had to start a half hour later.

Next, the instructors. To be fair they are probably all great, but I can only speak to my instructor, Derwin. Guy is an absolute legend. He also put safety first, but a close second is to come away from this lesson having fun, learning a little about surfing, and hopefully, that shredding wave feeling. He was extremely patient with me. I highly recommend when booking with Up2U Surf, you ask for Derwin.

In summation, I learned to appreciate great surfers, (ha), but if you’re in Bali, I’d urge you to seriously consider UP2U Surf for 1,2, or however many days of surfing you want to do.

Here you will get easy booking, online tutorials, friendly but also professional trainers and a lot of fun. Also, everyone here will make sure you are safe and feel physically well during your lessons. We were lucky to choose this school and hope, that you will make this right decision too.

The whole team was incredibly kind and in total it was an awesome experience, you also had much surfing time on the boards. I would absolutely recommend it to everyone!

Surfing was fun. Our coach was great, he taught us well and took good care of us in the sea. The weather in February is unpredictable, so unfortunately most of our lessons were in very windy conditions. Had one day when there was no wind and the waves were even, that was a good day to learn surfing. Overall, I had a good experience. I could stand up on the board, surf the wave, and even turn left or right by the end of a five day course.

Second time surfed with Up2U and it was great. This time I also brought my sons along and since this was their first time, i took the private class for my 10 years old son and semi private class for me and my 14 years ols son. It was as great as the previous time i surfed here. Coach Lubis took really good care of my son and coach Darwin also helped me to regain my surfing muscle memories since I already lost it. We had so much fun here ‍️‍️

Had a great time learning surfing. They do have levels for learning so it's nice to learn a new lesson after your first one.

I’m amazed! Look, I’ve got all the excuses - I’m getting old, I’m in the worst shape of my life, I’ve got some relevant joint and muscle injuries, I’m a weak swimmer, plus I’ve lived 10 minutes from the Los Angeles beach for 20 years and never had the guts to try. But a friend who did some lessons with UP2U somehow talked me into joining him, and I’m glad he did. Everything here was top notch. My instructor was very friendly and VERY patient with me. I still don’t know how he got me up on that board, but I was doing it without help before the end of the first lesson. They’ve got a great spot on the beach with water shallow enough that you can easily stand up. Attitudes are all very chill, so I never felt pressured, and I always felt safe. So if you’ve ever been curious but nervous about catching some waves, THIS is the place to shoot your shot.

Amazing experience with UP2U surfing school. The coach was very professional, helpful, kind and made the whole experience fun. This was my 2nd time surfing and 2nd time to choose UP2U - and I would come back for the 3rd one. Paul made booking easy by being very responsive and communicative.

We took our first surfing lesson ever and it was great! You first do an informative lesson outside of the water to learn the basics and then go in with an instructor who helps you catch the waves and gives you great feedback all the time. The instructure is very great and patient. And also he is really good to choose which wave that we take. Such an awesome experience to take the lesson with UP2U surf school. They can accomodate last-minute booking (booked this morning for the afternoon lesson). Highly recommended!

Did 4 private lessons. Premise is conveniently situated beside Legian beach. Setup is well run by Paul who's always checking and asking for feedback on lessons. Good vibes, would recommend!

Really good experience! The owner is very understand and kind. It was my first time surfing and they taught you really well. The instructors certainly know what they’re doing and we’re really fun and enthusiastic. Would recommend!

I had great experience with UP2U for my beginners class and first time surfing. The instructor was great and the group size of 3 was good. Before entering the water we got basic instructions on how to get up and stand on the board. After that it was action time, the instructor was good at helping us catching waves and encouraging us and after few tries I was able to ride my first wave) I will definitely try them again next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Instructor was really patient and took pains to divert us to a less crowded area each time other beginner surfers came too close. Lesson duration was just right, and we were taught the basics/hacks and had ample time to practise before we got into the water

My girlfriend and I decided to try surfing for the first time whilst on holiday to Bali - UP2U Surf School was the perfect choice! We never thought we would be able to stand but we both managed it!

Someone who was supposed to be in our group didn’t turn up on the day, so we had a semi-private lesson. The instructors are friendly and (extremely) patient when you don’t quite get it.

Paul takes loads of pictures throughout the 2.5 hours and gives you tips to improve during the break. The changing and showering facilities are very basic, but it’s very close to the beach. At such a reasonable price, I can’t complain!

Although I don’t think surfing is right for me, I would definitely recommend UP2U Surf School to anyone wanting to try surfing!

My boyfriend and I had never been surfing before and decided to try for the first time with a lesson for UP2U.
It was fantastic!

The other person who was supposed to be with us didn’t turn up so we ended up with a semi-private lesson. The instructor was lovely and really patient with us for the whole 2.5hrs and we both (much to our surprise) manage to stand up and catch waves. If we were in Kuta longer, I would’ve booked more lessons so learn to surf more. The person running it even took lots of pictures of us all and was giving us tips to improve.

I recommend them to anyone wanting to learn to surf.

If I could do 6 stars I would. What a great surfing lesson experience! My self and my boyfriend had absolutely no experience when it came to surfing, Ican (our instructor) made sure we had all the basics down including safety before he helped us in the water. He stayed close which I liked and gave tips along the way. Most of all everyone was friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend!

By far the best surf school in Bali. I went to other surf school before but this time I was pretty serious about surfing. Made the best choice by choosing Up2u. Paul is the real man. He manages the school really well. All the staff working there are really helpful and cares that you learn and take the most out of their lesson. WiFi, shower, locker, toilet, water just as explained. Big shout out to ARI; the way he overwatch you once you are independent and the constructive feedback from him is just amazing. Just finished my beginner course; will definitely come back for the intermediate one as well. If you’re serious about surfing this is where you will want to. The lesson structure are just amazing not just practical but theory as well. Oh well and the price is super cheap for all those attention and facilities you get.

This place is AMAZING! I would definitely give them a 20 out of 10.
I´ve always wanted to learn how to surf but honestly, never though it would be so smooth and easy as it ended up with UP2U.

I took a 5 days package and only have good things to say about it:

- Price is fantastic. I personally compared it with this "beach huts" that are all around and UP2U was not only cheaper, but way more professional and proper surfing school than no other.

- Five days plan is perfect. Couldn't be set up better. For me, that started from 0, in just five days I could see and feel my evolution. You start from the basics (stand up in white tiny waves) and ended up. SURFING PROPER GREEN BIG WAVES (last day waves were 5,5 feet and I could perfectly manage to paddle, pop up, surf the wave while it was breaking next to me as well as riding diagonally through it). Amazing for only FIVE DAYS!

- Lessons last around 2,5 hours, so I found it just the exact time to learn and improve before ending up exhausted (you will at the end of the class).

- Most important of all, PEOPLE. The were so nice and perfectly prepared to teach proper surf. Paul was always helpful, trying to set nice groups as well as give us quick theory advises that happened to be extremely important; Ari, Alex, Prima.such a perfect team! They all now exactly what is going wrong and corrected every single mistake I made in order to improve fast and enjoy the experience as much as I could. I enjoyed so much spending time with them in the sea.

Just finished today my five lessons pack and already feeling nostalgic about it.

I´ll keep on surfing, cause it definitely became one of my favorite sports.
Nothing can compare to the feeling you get once you are trimming a nice green wave.

Lessons were amazing. Instructors got us going after the first two tries. Really loved being out in the water. Time was sufficient and equipment was excellent. Will definitely recommend to family and friends

My family had a lesson with Up2u this morning. From the very first enquiry the communication was fantastic, and the lesson exceeded my expectations. The instructors were patient and good humoured, and we all had fun at our various levels. The lesson was great value for money, I would recommend Up2u to anyone.

Booked a beginner lesson with UP2U for early June! I paid $10 for reserving my spot through PayPal (which will later be refunded) and arrived at around 10.45am on the day of the lesson, at 11am Paul went through some theory/dos and don'ts for the day, did some practice round on the sand with the instructor first, and off we went into the water. Had so much fun! Everything went very smoothly from booking to receiving instructions to the surfing lesson itself. The instructor- Abdi - was very friendly. I got instant feedbacks on my postures and position on the surf board after each round. Very helpful!

We took 3 days lesson in order to get more details about surfing. The point i love up2you surf school:

1) Online video tutorial + surfing theory send u via email 1 day before lesson.
2) Basic practice and learning on the beach before on board.
3) Good english speaking instructor.

Simple surf school office also provide you:
1) Basic shower and wash room
2) Small locker box for personal belonging

What we extra appreciate, photo viewing season after surfing. You will get know how is your surfing status going on. A small plus tips, if go more than 1 day class, pls make sure u get same instructor.

Absolutely love this surf school! I booked for just one lesson and now I’ve ended up going back 4 more times! It’s so addictive and the coaches are so friendly and the owner Paul is awesome everyone there is super helpful and really put you in the right track to catching waves all by yourself! I’ve recommend this place to 5 friends so far and they all say the same!

I was absolutely intimidated by surfing before I decided to take a lesson with UP2U. I liked how we were provided with a dryland safety briefing and practice with the stances required while surfing. The rashguard that we were given to borrow was also helpful to prevent being burnt. We took a semi-private lesson and loved our instructor. He was super patient, always smiling and enthusiastic. It was nice that the location is close to the water so that we don’t have to walk very far with the large surfboards. Finally, super appreciative of the photos they take for us and all the helpful comments for improvement. I really loved the experience and can’t wait to try it again!

Very good surf school. Instructors are very friendly and correct you instantly. Loads of advice, theory lessons before the surfing (even online), pick up from accommodation is possible and the owner is very friendly. After the lesson you can check pictures to see your mistakes by yourself. I could stand on the board after the first lesson which I never expected. Also the price is very good. Recommended it already to 3 friends of mine
