I've been in Bali for a few days and explored various massage parlours, finding most to be average. As a regular, you can discern the experienced masseuses who take pride in their work and those who seem to go through the motions, just eager to finish.

Due to a lack of availability at Nusa Therapy, we discovered this place through a Google search and decided to give it a try.

I was skeptical upon entering as the environment felt more like a traditional house than a spa. However, the lady boss, Nyoman and one of her masseurs, compensates for the ambience with their impressive skills. Nyoman uses the right amount of strength (if your threshold for pain is low, don't opt for deep tissue massage?) Her knowledge of acupuncture points is evident, as she focuses on the areas that ache, applying more force and dedication. For me, massage is not only about relaxation but also recovery, and Norman's sincere efforts to alleviate my aches and pains were palpable. I plan to return tomorrow before my departure!

I chose the back, neck and shoulders massage and it was top notch.

Prices are low, but we didn't enjoy the massage. I felt the techinique was a bit random, not so good nor relaxing in my experience.
Also, the toilet was dirty and the facility seems it could use more maintenance and cleanliness.

First time for a foot reflexology massage and then deep body massage. Very good experience, Nyoman has perfect touch and mastery of the gestures performed. She directly feels all the points of tension and knots, she kneads them in all directions in order to soften the tense tissues. I highly recommend and would not hesitate to return on another trip.

I had the worst experience ever. Looking at the positive reviews I visited them for a deep tissue massage. However, the lady who massaged me, she literally took the life out of me. It was so so painful. Even after letting her know about the pain, she continued with the same energy. Not sure who she was or her name, but she was terrible. It's been two days since my massage and my back still hurts to the core. Even the simplest touch hurts me now. Is this how a massage should be felt?

Although I generally hate to write negative reviews, I would like to share my experience about this place, because unfortunately I cannot understand the positive reviews at all.
I told the lady at reception that I would like a massage. She then said that they are currently full and when I wanted to leave she said she would call a friend who would give me a massage. I thought nothing of it and assumed that it was definitely an employee.
Unfortunately, it turned out that this lady had absolutely no idea what she was doing and I ended up fondling her for an hour. She didn't address the tension in my body one bit.
Unfortunately, the atmosphere was anything but relaxed - during the massage she typed on her cell phone, talked to a colleague and even the door opened several times, which was very unpleasant!
I suspect that real masseurs can also be found in this studio, otherwise I can't explain all the good reviews, but apparently when there are too many customers, some people who are amateurs are simply called to help so that they don't miss out on a profit allow. It's a matter of luck.what a pity!

I highly recommend this massage center. I had the Balinese massage, although it is true that at times it hurt a little, I think that he knows how to locate and treat contractures. I highly recommend it. I also liked seeing a Balinese house inside.

She knows what she's doing. She takes e every muscle and massages it. It is totally recommended, especially if you are in pain

Best massage I’ve had in Bali, and I’ve had quite a few. Can’t speak for the others working at the spa but the owner knows her stuff.

She also has very strong hands. I got the deep tissue and it was the first time the pressure was perfect - on the cusp of being too strong. It’s a bonus that she can apply this pressure using her fingers as well as her elbows and forearms.

She also knows the spots - always finding and getting to those little knots all over. She spent more time on areas that needed more care.

I highly recommend this massage - it’s not as ‘vibey’ or aesthetic, but it’s genuinely an amazing massage and very very reasonably priced for what you are getting.

Hands down the BEST deep tissue massage I’ve had in several months of travelling around South East Asia.

I generally struggle to find the right pressure in most massage places, to the point where it has become inevitable to start any appointment without first explaining the tightness in my back/neck/shoulders and the fact that I need knots to be smoothened out. Even then it’s usually hit and miss as I never end up 100% satisfied.

With Nyomin, I barely had to say anything! They’re very well trained and know exactly what they’re doing. Got a private room to myself with some soft music, and I enjoyed a full 90 minutes of massage flow. Couldn’t have asked for more on a rainy day!

The venue is very authentic, I believe the family lives here so finding the spa was “interesting” the first time. Prices are a tad bit higher than all the other high street spas in Ubud, but it’s so totally worth it in my opinion as you get much much better service and quality (and hopefully less crowd!).

Will definitely try to go back again before leaving Bali.

A place to go for a deep tissue massage! Highly recommend! We tried many places but this is the best by a mile. We had both deep tissue and foot massage and will be going back for more for sure

Had an amazing 1 hour deep tissue massage from the older lady here. She was very kind, perfect firm pressure, and very intuitive - she found all the areas where I hold tension. Thank you

One of the best Balinese massages I’ve had. A must do if you’re in ubud. They are very firm and can feel where you’re most tight and work on that area. If you’re wanting a soft massage you’re better off going to another one.

In UBuD when you take a walk around the town you will always be cordially and endlessly invited to a variety of goods and services including taxi rides where you have the pleasure to haggle and wade through opaque pricing.

You will find many massage people offering their services. Ibu Nyoman will not be one of them as she has a long reputation and review presence so she is always busy and you have to book.

Nyoman, the owner, provides one of the very best deep tissue massages I’ve ever had in my entire life, anywhere in the world - and that’s saying something! I have a very messed up back and within minutes of lying down, her fingers immediately find the knots. It’s like they’re magnetized or something! To be clear, this deep tissue massage can be pretty intense, but for those of us with chronic back pain, it’s simply incredible. She is also very kind and remembers me when I come in, even though I don’t live in Ubud and can only come in a few times a year. Highly recommended!

Amazing massage! Just left a couple of hours ago and the massage was fantastic. I got the balinese massage and the masseuse was strong and mindful. Asked me the right amount of questions all the while not being disturbing. Its inside a cool looking temple (?) structure. Coming back here in 2 days for another massage!

Excellent massage technique, the massage ladies know what they are doing. Had the Bali traditional massage. It was performed with jasmin oil. Good and simple place (don’t expect a “spa” type of place and setting) within a traditional Bali house compound. Great value for money.

Seems it must be luck in who you get because some say it's incredible and others say it's the worst. I came based on the good recommendations and I got the worst. No matter what I said about how strong she could go or where the problem areas were I just got the classic rub down. Needed some real work done and I just got some poking and prodding even though I paid extra for the "deep tissue".

I get a massage every month, and this was the vest massage I've had. I went for the 1h Balinese massage and she covered my whole body. Very peaceful place too.

Incredible massage. Same level as the blind massage in Kuala Lumpur. If you like deep tissue and pressure your in for a treat, they work the areas they feel need working. Excellent. Would 100% go again if I came back to ubud.

I give stars, cause when we find this place from gmaps and seen some review the real condition almost same. Look like home massage, massage was really nice, before we came I have some problem in my neck then I back with satisfied feeling, we handle with two lady she really care about guest attention. Maybe we will come back again. But if you go with car maybe little bit hard to find parking

Amazing massage at Widjane, this is the real deal massage. Forget all the rest this is by far the best massage in Ubud. They really know what they are doing, immediately found the knots and problems in my back and gave Serious attention to all the muscle and deep tissue damage. I can't recommend this any higher. Five stars.

Such a great massage, easily one of my best. I cannot mirror the negative feedback, as I had a nice dim room with relaxing ambient music. Very worth the 140K.

I'm not sure where the good reviews are coming from for this place. I cut my 90 min massage down to 60 because it was so bad and I wanted to get out of there. The masseuse clearly had no training and was randomly prodding me, seemingly unaware of any of the knots in my shoulders. I found myself wishing the 60 mins away. To make it worse, she tried to crack my neck like a chiropractor - which was terrifying given how little knowledge she had! The room was very brightly lit and not very relaxing either.

Best massage in Ubud, hands down! Probably the best massage I have ever had actually. I truly don't understand how this place could get any less than 5 stars. It is a peaceful home with a talented and intuitive masseuse for a great price. What more could you ask for? !

Great deep tissue massage for $140 IDR. Lots of elbow and thumb massaging techniques to break up my annoying shoulder tension - very strong, not for the faint hearted.

Tricky to find.down small walk way. Traditional Bali room with fan and bed. Very authentic.

- they DO NOT CLEAN YOUR FEET!

So all dirty from your feet will be massaging into your face and body skin. What you want to treat then?
- bed and towels smell awful
- they speaking to each other whole the time
- And you can’t use the shower because it absent

Balinese massage is great for those looking for a more relaxing experience while the deep tissue massage really goes hard but is amazing for the body!

Wayan and Komang are some of the best massage therapists in ubud! I have got many massages before. They are very strong it is usually a mix of a relaxing massage and a painful experience (in a good way). They are both very intuitive which is important for healers. I cant wait to go back ASAP~!
