Wonderful batik school! Highly recommend! I took lessons several times, first a regular one-day class, then I did
complex work that requires several days to complete.
The calming atmosphere of village life, professionals who keep everything under control. If you need help, they will help and guide you. There is also an exclusive batik shop (I once bought a very beautiful piece of work and made a kimono) I am grateful for this experience, I will definitely return

We did the 5 hour class which resulted in a much more detailed fabric than the 3 hour would have.

We also saw multi-day students doing incredibly detailed work!

I would highly recommend widya batik class during your trip to ubud. It was interesting to learn the process of a local tradition. To see a blank piece of fabric to a colorful work of art was so fun! Perfect activity on a rainy or super hot day.

A great experience with patient and knowlegeable staff always ready to help. I was very pleased with my finished product.
I will be returning again next time I visit Bali.

There are 3 to 5 hour classes and it is said to be the only traditional batik class in Ubud. It is said that fathers and sons make batik together for generations. It was a great experience in the front yard of a quiet traditional Balinese house.

I'm very glad to join this Batik class. The price and the service were excellent, and I appreciate that they care about the results of our Batiks.

They provide some designs for you but you can also make your own design, if you are very good at drawing! I recommend to think a head of your design and asking for help to them if you need it.

They explained very well how the wax pencil is used and they will make the possible hardest part for you.

Also, you are given the chance to practice before doing any step, and you can practice for a lot of time if you wish.

Even if it's a little far, it's worth it.

So much fun and you leave with beautiful art! They explain the process very well and are very helpful. A must do when you're in Bali! I totally enjoy my experience.

Widya and his team of artists made this batik painting class an eye opening experience! We get to learn about the traditional art of batik painting, this is the place to be if you are looking for a cultural experience and take home your very own souvenir!

Clear directions and as much help as you want to create a lovely batik of your own. They give you many design options—but you could do your own. You get a practice piece to get your technique down. A lovely was to spend 4-5 hours. And the results are stunning.

Soaking up the Indonesian culture. Batik making is part of the indonesian history and identity and the nearest I'll get to meditation! Spending time in Widya's workshop (a family affair) was one of the highlights of my stay in Bali. Loved messing around with wax and colours.and watching the professionals at work. Very talented people! Silk scarf anyone?

Excellent experience for our group of adults and kids. Extremely organized, patient, and helpful. They had lots of examples and were willing to let you take your time or step in and assist. Especially great with the kids (ages 9 & 12). They were also flexible with timing for us. Very highly recommended.

Trickier than it looks but a really fun time creating my own batik. The guys were really helpful and patient too. Great experience.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS EXPERIENCE. The staff at Widya's are extremely hospitable and friendly, and you get to bring home a masterpiece of your own creation!

The class starts with an introduction to the process, colours and then you will trace a design onto the batik. You can use one of their pre-drawn designs and/or do your own. My friend and I chose to personalise our pieces using a pre-drawn design and adding our own unique elements. We were aided by the staff who were able to quickly draft an element based on what we told them/showed a sample image.

As we were preparing the design, the staff also drew a sample piece of our designs, for us to practice waxing and colouring on. While we practiced the waxing strokes, the staff helped us out the finer details of our masterpiece and we finished up the original piece with the easiest parts.

As we are amateurs, the staff double-checked our wax lines and mended them if necessary. At this point, we are trying out colouring/shading/blending on the practice piece. You would get to colour your masterpiece yourself, but if you're stuck - help is always available!

Then you would be shown the acid treatment process and the removal of wax to reveal your final art piece. It is truly amazing to see how the colours that once looked dull come to life.

The staff will then help to blow dry your art piece so that you can bring it home! If you are staying in Ubud, you can collect it in the evening or the next day.

Location is just 5-10 mins drive from Central Ubud - very convenient! TIP: don't take a complicated design (like I did), I ended up taking a long time to trace, wax and colour.and overran. But the team was very gracious to speed up the drying process as we had another AirBnB experience to attend in the afternoon.

Excellent experience, highly recommend! We started by picking our design, then tracing it out (so if you’re not a good drawer, don’t worry), then we did some practice applying the wax before doing some practice painting of our design and then finally we did our final design. The staff were so helpful, great English and explained the process well. They also helped us with a few extra bits on our design like adding nice backgrounds and getting the details finished.
It was a great experience, really relaxing and we got an amazing design at the end of the class.

Widya is a wonderful man as is his family who work with him.great class I will tell everyone to do it.highly recommend go with your teens they will love it.

It was a super fun experience. The people are all super friendly and helpful. Definitely a must do if you're in ubud.

I had a great time! The staff was very attentive and made sure that I loved my piece by the end! I loved seeing the process and learning about the art.

Pk Widya and his family deliver a wonderful and authentic Batik experience in the heart of Ubud. Within a one day session we get to create some art to take home with natural dyes, using both Tulis Cantok wax process and block printing, seeing the wonderful colors emerging during the chemical fixing process. Pk Widya is a true and authentic artist, the program is inside the family home for a unique Ubud experience. Great for small groups and families.

Widya and his family were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the batik making process. They walked us through all the steps and were very patient with us newcomers! We especially loved Widya's personal touches and advice on color choices and different shading techniques. I highly recommend taking his class if you're in Bali and interested in learning how to make batik. Would come back again!

Mr. Widya and his son Dede are very warm and helpful when we are practice making batik. Mr. Widya explained all the knowledge about batik, how to make a good batik, etc. We had a great time and experience.

Such a great place! They help with anything you don't want to do and fix the errors. So excited to bring back my koi batik as a souvenir. Good cheap lunch too with GF and vegetarian options

Wonderful experience. Widya and his team offer a calm, supportive workshop to create your own batik piece. Dozens of templates and stamps to choose from or draw your own design. They will help apply the wax if you are a novice like me. A good selection of colours available for painting. It is wonderful to see the colours become vibrant in the fixing process. Fresh bottled water and all materials supplied. They also offer a variety of Indonesian dishes for purchase at lunch time. I'll be back next time I visit Bali!

Definitely worth it. Something different to do in Ubud and get away from all of the shops. They work with you to make a beautiful batik.
