I was here to make a piece of jewelry. Cozy place and exciting activity. However, the staff made 90% of my ring, which was a bit of a shame. So there is not much you are allowed to do yourself. But there is probably a point to that.

I really recommand the wood experience, my design was a bit complex and the teacher was very helpful and gave me good advice. Because my design was complex, I stayed more time and the teacher was here until the end to be sure I was happy of my art (1 h extra)

When you arrive there is no official introduction. There is no explanation on what the workflow is like.
There were probably 20 or more people.
Most things are not done by yourself.
They don't even invite you to try (I know some stuff has to be done by them but it's a silver course to learn how it is made. 95% of the time the ring was not in my hands)
My ring turned out nothing like the example picture I gave. (I also wanted to have an imprint, but as the workflow wasn't clear I was never sure when to say I wanted to do that). I am really really disappointed.
If you come here, make sure to say everything you want right upfront and keep coming back if it isn't to your taste.

30 mins of grinding the silver (but you don't know which metal it is and how much you get), 2.5 h of waiting. Your not supposed to do your own jewellery. They do the jewellery for you. You just sit there and wait.

They don't tell you anything about the culture or the traditional process.

Don't book the tour. It's a rip off.

Unfortunately totally disappointing. We were promised an authentic experience. We wanted to make jewelry ourselves and lend a hand. In reality you are hardly talked about, you have no idea what is going on. The group was way too big (22 people for an active guide).
We were sat down, asked to be inspired 'by Google' and then had to (randomly) dart around our piece of silver for about an hour. That was the “highlight”, because from that point on you didn't see your ring for about 2 hours. You could try it on once and later take a finished copy home with you. Unfortunately, you don't work at all yourself, but you won't be able to explain what the professionals are doing at the moment.

I do not recommend this sadly, I was super excited to come here and make jewelry but tbh "make" would be the incorrect term to use.
You enter with no introduction, they told us to design rings and told us we can't make the design but didn't explain why so I just made a basic bland ring because I didn't know what I could do or not. Then they size it cut it, shape it, polish it, all you do is file it down and hammer a pattern into it. They do everything else and tbh it looks like an average ring. You don't do anything techniques and have no instructions. We probably waited around for 2 and a half hours in total and "made" for around half hours.
It is also out the way of everything so had to share a grab back with a stranger due to cost and the fact that not many grabs would turn up to the area.

A great experience if you have a specific design in mind and would like it recreated - we are very happy with the results!

Had a really lovely silver jewellery class here! The instructors were lovely and very helpful and I really enjoyed the class!

Make sure you think of a small design before heading there. The staff will try their best to help you create the design you envisioned.

Mr Ngurah and his team taught and helped us a ton! They also served a snack while we were waiting - while tempering the silver and such. Excellent jewelry making class!

Don’t do the jewelry making class. They booked too many tourists and were overwhelmed. We waited for hours until we got instructions and even then they ended up making the rings themselves. Terrible experience.

We come with a design, try to make it as best we can. They fix it so the piece looks nicer. They serve snack and we wait for our pieces to be done. It was a long wait to get 16-18 people's jewelry done with 3 "instructors". They also have batik making, wood carving, etc. Not suggested for kids under 13.

Wood carving lesson was amazing - we said what we wanted to make and the teacher was patiently helping us. The result was beyond our expectations!

We like our rings but it wasn’t as hands on as we would have liked it. Also we found out after that other people got to use a lot more tools and were given the option to make pendants, earrings etc but we were only told rings

Fun afternoon making rings and earrings. The staff were efficient as we started with four people and ended with 9. We each designed what we wanted and cut the silver and the staff helped where needed then have us instructions on how to sand them. It was then shaped into a ring, cleaned in acid, further worked in by us and then polished.

The area was pretty and the walk out to the road to catch a grab car took only a few minutes. Grab can drop you off but not come into the community (we waited for a local taxi but none were available).

Definitely recommended!

Excellent activity for me and my 10 year old. We had fun and love our ring & earrings!

The description of this workshop said that it would be a small group of 7 people. And instead when we started we were with like 21 people and 1 instructor. And it seemed like the instructor only had eye for a small part of the group. The reason i give it 3 stars and not 1, is because I was happy with the endresult. But to be honest you're there like 3+hours, and we got like 2 minutes explanation.

I can agree with Lucie's review. The people there are friendly, but there is no introduction or lesson and so you draw and work away completely clumsily. Eventually, some more or less respectable piece of jewelry comes out. If one would learn a little more about the technique and procedure, then one could try out much more purposefully. I was frustrated in between and could only find my peace with the course in the last hour. Tip: Watch a tutorial on Youtube beforehand on how to make a rudimentary silver ring and bring an idea. It is also important to know that the rings are ultimately always flat and not worked with silver wire but with -plates. The environment is not grab or gojek friendly.

I really don’t know whether to recommend this studio or not, so I just give my first hand experience on the silver jewellery class:

We arrived 15 minutes early only to find some others already sketching on some paper. As we sat down, we got a pencil and four blurry photos with the words “draw your design” - no official welcome, no waiting for others, no explanations what kinds of jewellery or techniques are possible whatsoever. A bit unsure, I sketched out my design for a simple ring with some stencilling. Then, the instructor came around and measured everyone’s finger and cut out a piece of silver, that was nice. Then he pointed at the little tools in front of us, that was our sign to start filing the edges. Alright, I thought, no explanation too, nice. After the piece of silver was smooth, we got some tools to stamp the metal, but again, no explanation about nothing. It was kind of simple to get the hang, but I don’t really want to ruin a 60€ piece of silver by not knowing how to handle it. After an hour so far, my design was stamped into the metal. After another hour of just waiting, my flattened out ring got collected, was put into ring-form, made round and got polished. In the end, I got a nice little souvenir I was proud of, just to find out that a whole $h! T ton of other design would have been possible. I would have done another design, if someone would have simply told me!

In conclusion: if you want to sit in a nice studio in the middle of a rice field and watch silver smiths do their work for two hours, go do this. But if you expect a class with instructions, examples and a detailled explanation of what techniques and jewelleries are possible - skip this place. You find so many small local jewellery studios that offer more detailed courses in the centre of Ubud, no need to drive that far.

Upon arrival we didn’t receive any sort of instruction or "welcome“. The teacher just asked us what we want to craft with the wood. He then prepared the wood without letting us know what was going on. Half an hour passed and soon we realised that the class is different than expected. Rather than him showing us what we need to do and demonstrating it to us with a sample, he took our wood and made 95% of the job. I can therefore not say that I made the mask myself, given that the teacher insisted on doing it for us.

In addition, the owner (American guy) charged us more money than was advertised. After confronting him about it, he gave us the money back but acted very annoyed and rude about it. He was rude in general since he didn’t welcome us nor did he say goodbye.

It took 4h in the end instead of 3 and all in all it was a quite bad experience. Would not recommend going here at all (especially given the high prices).

I went to a silver jewelry making class, which overall was great! The staff was very friendly and we really like the outcome (we made 2 silver rings). The class turned out to be a little bit different than expected, you have to come up with the design on your own and its not as much “teaching” as you’d expect from a class.summarized you could say its more of a cooperation between the workers and you, but regardless it was a very interesting and fun experience!

We attended a silver making class. I highly recommend it if you’re within an hour drive. We travelled from Sanur to do this and we are so happy we did. Class was 3 hours and they didn’t rush you to finish. The staff are so nice and helpful. You get tea/coffee/water and deep fried pineapple and banana as you work on your piece.

Did a jewelry class there. Some more interaction with the guys running the class would have been nice. But it was still an enjoyable experience and we all loved the pieces we made.
