Tatorigami

This is a lifechanging experience for me. The whole process was just…amazing.

Let me start from the very beginning, so I've been waiting and manifesting to get a tattoo from @tatorigami a.k. A Kak Mulie. Luckily I got myself a slot for 2024 (mind you, I join the slot war on July 2023 for this!) The amount of effort and time spent on this project were worthed. Every single aspect of it.

Kak Mulie able to transform my aspiration and concept into a beautiful design, which by the way feels so personalized for me. I don't know how many origami phoenix he's been making, but this one looks like a real masterpiece (of course maybe because it's mine huahaha). All the details, choice of colors, form, shape, the way it's been made = amazing.

Total respect for the way he works his way. His studio is clean, tidy, and so comfortable, it was like every small details there, was there for a purpose and designed to bring comforts for us while being tattooed. He himself also neat, and professionally make sure everything was well sanitized and prepared to the very details. Never have I ever be with a tattoo artist who asks "Are you okay? " or "Are you doing good? , We can proceed? " as much as he did. He's a person with such a high empathy with lots of good stories.

I also appreciate how he tried to make small conversations, or getting some background stories of our tattoo. Everything feels so personal and special, can't imagine being him facing lots of customers day by day by day and still able to do so.

To close this long narrative, I just want to say, I wish every one of you potential customer who still have doubts in getting tattoo from Kak Mulie to rest assure, you're not paying for 'only' a tattoo. You'll get a glimpse of a maestro pouring himself to the art he made, good chats filled with meaningful stories, a chance to see how a real professional tattoo artist works, and of course a masterpiece. One of a kind. I told Kak Mulie a term I remember well from a book's title & workshop = Humans are storytelling animal. Now every time I see my tattoo or when someone ask about the process for this tattoo of mine, I'll give them a damn good story of a true artist who made it well = @tatorigami

Mulie is a truly amazing artist! The process from bookings until discussing the design is easy and fast. Mulie can grasp my ideas very clearly and translate them into beautiful artworks! The details of his works are so outstanding and beautiful. I also enjoyed talking with him and learned a lot from every session. It's been an amazing experience and the result is a masterpiece! Looking forward to getting a tattoo from him again in the future!

And thanks to Ko Mulie for making it happen.

During the sketching process, I was amazed by how fast and precise he visualized the concept.
Everything that I put in the concept form, he tries to fit it in my tattoo. No wonder the tattoo is emitting joy right now!

His studio is so cozy with unique decoration and a lot of interesting books. He has a very nice playlist to accompany you during the inking process.
It is also extremely clean and makes you feel at ease during the inking process.
Ko mulie changes his gloves whenever he touches anything other than your tattoo and the tools.
I lost count on the 5th gloves

People said that he is a perfectionist, talented, detailed, and I can confirm it's all true.
He makes sure the tattoo has a good proportion on your skin and doesn't hesitate to adjust it. Not only for the sake of the visual but he makes sure it feels comfortable on your skin.

My session ran unpredictably long, almost 5 hours because of my "ningrat" skin
But it was a pleasant experience.
He makes sure you feel comfortable during the session.
Not only talented for making tattoos, he has good communication skills and also a good listener. My session almost feels like a session for therapy and confession lol.

The result?
It's beyond my expectation!
The sketch itself is very outstanding but the ink on my skin is really something!
The color is way more beautiful than the sketch because he adjusted the color to my skin color.
He also gave a "Survival kit" in order to take care of the tattoo. It really helps me a lot

Tatorigami is the best! Dari mulai Mulie yang sangat passionate, art yang no play-play bosku, sabar dan pendengar yang teramat top markotop, tempatnya juga zen banget, peralatan yang bukan kaleng-kaleng, sampai ke SOP/knowledge yang buat kita nyaman karena bener2 tau how to do this in a very safe manner. Highly recommended, totally worth it buat nunggu 1 thn buat dpt slot.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience!

We exchanged emails a couple of times to discuss about the tattoo design. The design process did not take a very long time and Mullie was really receptive to feedback and adjustment. He really put a lot of thought and heart to each of his design.

The place itself was very clean, sanitary, and comfortable. He showed the needles etc were clean, new, sealed, all that stuff. I signed some release form and he began prepping for the tattoo session.

My session took about 3 hours, not including the preparation time, and we took some breaks in between.

After the session ends we took photos of the tatto and he explained the aftercare, do’s and don’t s, etc. Very professional and nice!

Absolutely loving my debut tattoo! The design was spot on, just as Mulie and I had discussed, and the colors really stand out. Although an extra session was needed (5 instead of 4) due to bleeding, Mulie managed the situation expertly. I can't wait to return next year for another piece!

Cant believe we actually waited 3+ years after we secure 2 appointments in 2019.

Mulie is humorous, witty and able to chat almost a lot of topics. He checked in regularly throughout the tattoo session to make sure we feel comfortable. I was expecting level 8 pain (as i hear so many experiences from my other friends) but turned out, it was mostly bearable (level 3-4) for 1st colored design.

I love how he incorporated my favourites into the final design.

I would say its an amazing experience with Ko Mulie, on the note that he cares on the wellbeing of his customers, almost every 30 minutes he checks up on me wheter im still good to keep on going with the tattoo. As well as the attention to detail on the tattoo is amazing, especially when he added more elements on the tattoo. Other than that i really had a lot of fun with the conversation we have. Worth all the waiting time and pain! Mulie is very attentive, details, and professional. He knows what he did really well. The process is really smooth from the design preparation until the execution day. Mulie is someone who’s easy to communicate with and very helpful from the very beginning. Also he’s really good on calming and distracting his client throughout the tattoo process. Really love the result, no doubt!

Mulie attention to details is on another level, 10/10 would come back to make another tattoo (s) here.

A complete package. A cozy studio (takes you back to a vintage tattoo shop in Japan although you're in the middle of Jaksel), a talented individual, a wonderful after-care box, and a great conversation. Mullie really knows everything about symbols, signs, past lives, and geometry! Had an amazing time. So glad that I can be a part of the #tatorigami club.

glad that you changed the placement so I was able to develop the right idea to represent the "taking risk" toward "hopes and future"
first of all, this is the second time that I'm designing a tattoo that only uses japanese pattern (origami pattern)
For peonies flower, the way they pollinated is by the help of insects
in this case, I wanted to convey the story by changing the behaviour of the peony
that the peony "taking the risk" by relying on it self to pollinates, toward the sun (hopes and future)
And as you can see the background is bluish and a bit "dark" I wanted to convey
the idea of the passing dark time, and also to contrast the trails of pollen…”

Mulie is a very highly skilled, yet very humble, very caring and the most empathetic tattoo artist I have ever met. He is willing to listen to what his client’s wants and needs (ga sotoy dan ga maksain design dia sendiri, tp mau adjust dg taste dan kemauan kita). He totally understands that the tattoo itself could be a painful process, so he strives to make his client as much comfortable as he could (a super homie and very clean room, relaxing musics, ngobrol2 santai layaknya an old friend while doing the tattoo works, and i believe he uses only the best tools to minimize our pain… he even made his own after care amenities to ensure that our tattoo will be healed perfectly with minimal painful effect, of course). In short, I feel so safe to get my tattoo done by Mulie, because I know that I’m being taken care by good hands. Such a truly rewarding experience. Worth every penny, every minutes, and the 5yrs of waiting.

Mulie has done a superb and fantastic work on my tattoo. A decent guy and very detailed on his work. He has a remarkable knowledge about tattoo's world and possesses a great sense of color. WORTH. EVERY. PENNY. AND PAIN. AND ALSO THE EXTENSIVE WAITING TIME (no kidding his slots are so hard to get!).

Got my reservation in mid 2019 for a tattoo session with Mulie in mid 2020, then it was rescheduled to mid 2021 due to the pandemic. I was feeling kind of nervous because this is my first tattoo, but Mulie made the experience easy for me. I came alone and was amazed by how quirky, immaculate, tidy, and spotless his studio is. We discussed about the tattoo concept a week before and he translated it onto my skin perfectly. I can say that he put his heart and mind into his creation, and I'm so glad that one of them is on my skin. He also gave each of his client a "SURVIVAL KIT" which is a tattoo aftercare consisting of green soap, ointment, and organic tissue that works amazingly well for me (he even put his artwork into his aftercare!) My tattoos healed fast with no scabbing. I felt so relieved and cared for.

His tattoo style is one of a kind, and with his excellent work ethic I left feeling soooo happy and satisfied.

Would very much love to have his art on my skin in again in the future.

I’ve had my tattoo retouched mid August 2020. I went through rapid test procedure provided by the tattoo artist. The safety protocol is excellent, matched by the beautifull artwork done by the artist. The artist’s work is influenced with japanese style drawings and arts. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great tattoo work done.

During this madness-pandemic COV19, He make sure everything will be safe, clean, sterile, and comfy for both of the client and himself.

This is my first tattoo and I got his amazingly fantastic piece of art on my half sleeve! Yes! HALF. "What on earth am I doing? " repeating this question on every session i got with him. LOL.never imagine to get a tattoo on my body, but then i got half of my sleeve. SICK.

I admire his work since 2014, and finally in 2020 pandemic I made a tattoo at tattoorigami. I was in awe since he sent me the sketch. His work is awesome. He really knows how to make a black and grey without eliminating the details. For those looking for a small details, he's the best! Price still affordable too! Thanks, Pak!

A clean and comfy tattoo studio located in a strategic apartment.

Mullie really cares for the comfort of his client. He is very friendly and always creates a relaxed atmosphere (esp.for someone anxious such as myself).

Speaking of the tattoo itself is not a necessity as it's an absolute satisfaction. Thank you Mullie for realising my vision and giving your own personal flavor so the result is beyond what I ever dreamed of.

Tattoo is all about connection between ‘the canvas’ and ‘the artist”. Mulie here made me realize about this. I’ve been inked for several of times before coming to this guy’s studio, and yet this time around was different. After 3 years-long coming back and forth for my arm sleeved project (yep, he is a hella busy guy), I become realized a deeper meaning of a tattoo.

Side note: If you are into learning deeper about tattoo, I recommend you to get yourself his book (out soon) / try to make an appointment with this guy. You’ll figure out something interesting after you have yourself inked over a chit chat with @tatorigami. Such a great personality.

Got my half sleeve tattoo and origami tattoo from Mulie after waiting 1 year. And I couldn't be happier with the result. Mulie have incredible talent and fanatical attention to details, and it is really reflected on his works. Wouldn't mind to wait another year to get my next tattoo from him.

Dari 12 tahun lalu udah selalu ada keinginan untuk ditattoo tapi selalu ragu karena takut tattoo pertama gue gagal dan hasilnya ga seperti yang gue mau dan berbagai macam faktor-faktor lainnya.

Akhirnya, setelah riset dan menunggu waiting list selama 2 tahun (tertunda karena pandemi), worth it dan hepi banget setelah liat hasilnya bener-bener sesuai yang gue pengen.

Detail tattoonya juara banget, selama ditattoo gue juga ga bosen bener-bener dibuat senyaman mungkin karena banyak yang diobrolin baik soal kehidupan, masa lalu, sejarah pertattooan dan banyak lagi.

Mulie is a tattoo artist who is very talented, the results of the tattoo that he made is an art.
The private studio is so comfortable and uniqe.

The artist, Mulie is awesome, such a humble family man. He has special taste & style in Japanese tattoo art. My Tree Of Life (left hand) and 4 faces a creature (right bicep) will be complete this year, are super awesome done by him. Above all, he is really hygienic freak when tattooing which is super cool & awesome too. Definitely will come back for more.

Mulie is the best tattoo artist in Indonesia. Mulie detail banget orangnya, dan perfectionist. Contohnya tato origami gajah, lalu di dalam nya ada lagi gambar bunga, or lines, or whatever that suitable to the person's personality yang bakal ditato sama Mulie. Mulie juga sangat perhatian ttg kebersihan, jadi semua tempat tattoo nya akan dilapisin baru setiap ganti orang yang akan ditattoo. Sampe level hospital grade I think: P Last but not least, Mulie knowledge nya wide banget jadi ngalir aja ngobrol2 sm Mulie waktu di tato.

Tapi yah gitu, susah banget dpt appointment Mulie, waktu itu gue nunggu 1 1/2 tahun. My husband yang daftar dan dia uda research all tattoo artist di seluruh indonesia. Dia bilang, we are going to be inked by the best tattoo artist and fix our existing tattoos.
