The best travel agency. Trusted one. They have official office inside Probolinggo train station. Definitely recommend this agency to organize your Bromo&Ijen trip.

I'd first like to say that despite this poor review, Master Holiday/Sakha travel have one member of staff, called Shakira, who is brilliant and helped us resolve some of the issues that came our way because of this awful company. She stayed at work late just to help us which we are incredibly appreciative of.

DO NOT TRAVEL WITH THIS COMPANY EVER. They have no respect for their customers at all.

We organised the Bromo and Ijen tour with pick up and drop off in Yogyakarta. This started off fine with us being picked up on time and the journey beginning. Towards the end of the journey, the driver began to drive very recklessly, nearly knocking a guy off a scooter, driving the car on the wrong side of the highway to avoid the queue and almost crashing taking the car off the road. This is because he was tired, expecting one person to drive 12 hours is not reasonable.

When we arrived at Probolinggo, it was 7pm and we checked with the owner of the Master holiday/ Sakha travel that the restaurant at the hotel in Bromo would be open, as we had not had dinner. He assured us it would be however when we arrived it was not, and no other restuarants in the area were open. A simple phone call to tell the hotel that  guests would be arriving is all that was required.

When we arrived at the home stay for Ijen we were appalled.   The standard of the accommodation was disgusting. The room was filthy, and a dirty toilet brush lying on the floor. Blood and holes were on the dirty sheets, and when we woke up we saw that there were bed bugs crawling over the bed.

After the Ijen trip we made our way back to Probolinggo, having confirmed twice with the company that we were going to swap drivers and continue our journey to Yogyakarta. We had tried to organise a train, but the co-ordinator had failed to book the tickets for us, meaning that the train became fully booked. This is completely incompetent.

When we arrived in Probolinggo they denied that we had booked a transfer back to Yogjakarta, despite a receipt, and told us that there was no driver to take us. Instead we had to wait for 3 and a half hours for someone to come and collect us. The co-ordinator we were communicating with on the previous two days about this transfer (in perfect English) refused to speak to us when the problem arose and was laughing at us/ ignoring us when we tried to solve the problem. It was incredibly rude and frustrating.

We were stuck in Probolinggo, in the middle of nowhere, with staff that had lied to us and now were ignoring us. We had no idea what was going on, and had no confirmation that a driver or car was even coming to collect us.

In the end we had to stay the night in Probolinggo and book a train for the next day. This was done with the kind help of Shakira, who we are very grateful for.

Dealing with this company was an awful experience. They lied to us and treated us with minimal respect. Please avoid this company at all costs, the stress of this ruined our experience of Bromo and Ijen.

Yes, it is a long story…. To make it short: These tour providers are unprofessional, unreliable people. Listen to the advice of most travel guidebooks: Don´t ever book a tour to Bromo or Ijen on the street!

In October 2018, we were doing a tour to Ijen with a different tour provider. At the end of the tour, the driver asked us what we want to do next. As we said we want to do the Bromo tour, he offered us a full package: shuttle to Cemoro Lawang, hotel with breakfast, jeep tour to Bromo (sunrise and sea of sands), and shuttle to Jogja. We told him that we want a train ride to Jogja and he agreed.

The ride from Banyuwangi to Probolingo: It was in a private minibus without aircon (that´s ok…) and without safety belt while the driver was driving like hell!

The discussion in the tour office: The driver stopped at MASTER HOLIDAY tour office in Probolingo where we learned that we cannot get a train but a minibus to Jogja on the next day. We were discussing for about 1 hour with the office guy since we paid for a train ride that they were not willing to buy. He seemed to be nice, explained that he cannot afford a train ticket and blamed the driver that sold the tour to us. At the end, we agreed to go by MINIBUS and negotiated to get a little discount.

The „hotel“: We really don´t demand high standards, but this hotel was disgusting! There were no sheets for the dirty blankets and the breakfast was plain rice with an egg garnished with a long hair.
The jeep tour: The tour itself was nice. We were early enough to get a good spot for the sunrise at King Kong´s and later in the sea of sands. Nothing to complain!

The trip to Jogja: Please read carefully now! After the tour, we had a driver back to the MASTER HOLIDAY tour office in Probolingo. They brought us to another tour office down the road where we waited approx. 1 hour. Then suddenly a big economy bus came and they told us we need to take it – no time to discuss. It was supposed to take 7-8 hours, again without aircon. Well, after 3 hours the bus stopped at the final destination, the bus terminal in Surabaya. From here, we had to fight for another bus to Jogja. After some discussion, a man bought us two tickets for another economy bus. When we found out that this bus will take 10 to 12 hours to Jogja (it was 3pm already), we started a heavy discussion and threatened to call the police. But he was not even listening to us. At the end, a young lady helped us to buy tickets for a business class bus to Jogja. But of course, this was on our own extra costs, we didn´t get any refund. We were left all alone!

Apakah ada pertanggung jawaban dari atasan apa bila ada masalah dengan manajer master holiday

When you book the tour you should know what you are getting into. It‘s a tourist tour and it’s only about getting you from one spot to another. But I can still recommend it! Book the tour with the train option. Trains (executive class) are very comfortable in Indonesia and you still gonna be spending a lot of time in small busses and cars. The stuff is friendly and our driver drove carefully. Nevertheless driving in Indonesia is different and cars and scooters pass from left and right.
We chose the cheapest hotel category because we knew we wouldn’t get much sleep. Our first hotel (Yoshi’s) was horrible. We knew it would be simple but it was also very dirty, dusty and smelled moldy. The shower was the worst. I’m not sure if it ever gets cleaned.
Bromo: You don’t need a guide for Bromo. I would recommend to walk up the hill and watch the sunrise from King Kong Hill.
Ijen: You won’t get inside the park without a guide. We had a very good guide. He really took care of us and we felt very safe.

Now comes a part not worth a star. After the tour they drop you off at the Harbour of Ketapang. Our driver led us over the street of Master Holiday and told us to buy the tickets to Denpasar there. DON’T DO THAT! IT’S A TOTAL RIP-OFF. We paid 100k each person for the ferry and bus to Denpasar. They drop you off 20km from Denpasar and tell you it’s the last stop. It’s a lie. We were in the middle of nowhere and of course there is a sign saying no grab/no go-jek. We walked down the street and took a grab anyway. The bus ride to Denpasar is not directly connected with Master Holidays. But because it was their driver leading us to the bus company I am disappointed.

Do not choose this travel agency if you would like a safe and scheduled trip. DO NOT TRUST A SINGLE WORD FROM THEM! Their bus agent is a liar who broke the promise easily and turned off the phone leaving you on a remote street at 10pm with no freaking refund.
