Firman is a local legend with unmatched knowledge of the waves around Lakey Peak. He accurately assesses your skill level and areas on which you can improve, and always gives you options for waves to surf.

He has helped me manage my anxiety and nervousness with overhead waves, and although I still definitely have a healthy amount of respect/fear for the power, I also have more confidence to put myself over the ledge on overhead days.

If you are an intermediate surfer like me, Firman's coaching helps you improve. If you are an experienced surfer and new to the area, Firman's guidance would allow you to quickly know where to go and which spots work best on which swell/tide.

Firman is the best surf guide I've encountered! And I've had many over the years.

He is clear, very good with his instructions, makes you feel safe, challenges you, and is very fair in the surf so has a very good reputation with other surfers.

Firman is hands down the best surf coach I had in Indonesia and on top of that a fantastic person! I was traveling west to east, but actually came back from Komodo to surf with him at Lakey again! The overall surf level there was quite high, but thanks to him I was still catching lot’s of waves and progressing a lot with my surfing. He also pretty much helped me to organize all the rest in Lakey from Scooters to a good medical massage. Already looking forward to go back to Lakey to surf with him again! See you soon my friend!

Firman is a great coach, and I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn or get better at surfing.
He always made sure I felt safe during our lessons. He took great care of me and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole training.

I made a lot of progress in just 10 days of training. He knew exactly where to take me to practice, considering my skill level and the waves condition. This helped me improve a lot while feeling supported and encouraged.

I very liked the trainings. The focus was on catching more waves by better positioning and timing. A great extra theory lesson with white board also was included.

I got lot of help from Firman in the water and my skills definitely improved after the 10 sessions.

Can really recommend surfing with Forman if you want to elevate your surfing. He quickly assesses your level and helps you work on specific things to improve your surfing. On top of that he is a great guy and being in the water together was a blast!

Me and my girlfriend stayed at Lakey Peak for 3 weeks, and we booked several surf guiding sessions with Firman. He had been recommended us by a friend of ours, and after the first session with him, we already knew that we were in good hands. Firman is not only one of the best local surfers, but also the best surf coach and guide. He always chose the most suitable spot for us. Sometimes the waves were quite big, but with his help and clear instructions, we felt safe in every situation, and we were able to catch a lot of incredible waves. His technical advice helped us a lot to improve our surfing skills. Firman also showed us how to move in crowded line ups with confidence to get the best position to take the wave.
After every session, Firman gave us an individual feedback. Once we even received a video analysis (he hired a friend to take the video) which we think is really great for the learning process.
Firman also has a great personality, calm, relaxed and friendly to everyone, and at the same time he knows how to encourage you to reach your next level of surfing. We had so much fun surfing with Firman and definitely recommend him as the NUMBER ONE of the surf coaches in Lakey Peak.

My only regret with Firman is that I didn't get the chance to spend more time with him.
Firman is not only (by far) the most experienced surf guide around, but also a great human being. He only needs minutes to assess your level and your needs, so to provide you with the best Lakey experience possible. Thanks to him, you will always be at the right place, at the right time and get a lot more (and better) waves that you would have caught on your own, no matter your level.
After 3 days of guiding I can definitely say I improved and I owe it to Firman.
In and out of the water is a great guy, which you can tell just by the way other people interact with him. You will not find a better surf guide/instructor around, so stop looking and book your sessions with Firman:)
