Senaru Trekking

Very honest, the tour guides found my phone on the mountain and returned it to me. Very lovely people. I would highly recommend booking with them.

We left for 2 and 1 night on a trek. Our porter and our guide Kertawan were both very welcoming, smiling and took great care of us. They took the time to prepare delicious meals for us.
The ascent went really well, we were lucky with the weather for this month of November and left with a smile:) Don't hesitate!

What a once in a lifetime trip! We are very fit and avid hikers and this was by far the most difficult hiking weʻve ever done. Seriously, do not underestimate the challenge that this trek presents, mentally and physically. Be prepared for long hours of hiking in the hot sun, minimal sleep, and freezing cold temperatures at the summit. Our guide Bayu was patient and always made sure we had anything we needed. We did the luxury 3 day and 2 night trek. Food was okay, not the best that we’ve had on guided tours in Indonesia. The gear was relatively new and seemed in good condition. This company is definitely interested in improving and in maintaining the cleanliness of the mountain. As many other reviews and posts on social media suggest, there is a LOT of trash at the campsites, the rest stations, and pretty much all throughout the trails. Our guide was honest in discussing this problem with us and this tour company offered us a 5% discount on our tour if we helped pick up and bring out any litter we picked up on the final day. Although we already were interested in any ways we could help limit the waste on the landscape, this incentivized our action and helped spark meaningful conversations about systemic, sustainable change to improve the ecology, aesthetics, and attendance to this growing tourist area. Overall, we are very glad to have had the experience, despite the discomfort.

It was not my idea to climb this monster of a mountain. This was a surprise wholly and covertly organised by my girlfriend, who had casually it would be a good idea to spend my birthday together at the summit of Mount Rinjani. (I recommend a bit more due diligence on the part of surprisers-to-be, as we considered ourselves moderately fit and conditioned for on-demand strenuous physical activities. So mistaken.)

Having set the context, I must go on to lavish my praise for the crew of Senaru Trekking. As mentioned, the planning and coordination between my girlfriend and Jul was seamless (at least to me, who was kept blissfully in the dark the whole time). It was only when we were pulling up to their lodge that I was alerted to my impending fate.

My greatest respect and commendation goes out to Dani and our crew of 2 porters (altogether, 3 people guiding, cooking, accommodating our every whim and Singaporean proclivity for freakish cleanliness and bottled drinking water). I genuinely have no idea how the porters do it (maybe some special Lombok-ian diet from young?), but watching them, basket-loads upon shoulder, skipping up and down the mountain in their nonchalant slipper-wearing, cigarette-smoking manner, made me question the validity of any claims I previously had with regards to fitness.

Anyway, Dani was an amazing guide. He encouraged us to go at our own pace, and never complained that we really took up his encouragement. (For context, the treacherous hike from camp to the summit was typically around 3.5 hours, but having Dani's blessing to go as per our comfort, we took around 7.5 hours.) In fact, Dani was continually motivating us, whilst ensuring we were in a condition suitable to trudge on. He never gave up on us, and was (sometimes literally) pulling us up the mountain.

I must also commend his experience and integrity as we were descending the mountain, as Dani had an uncanny knack of giving an accurate (albeit bleak) sensing of how long more till our next rest-stop/milestone. As an example, during an instance, he mentioned "maybe an hour more to the next stop" - exactly 15 Spotify songs later, we were sitting under a shed, resting.

Amazing.

All-in-all, it was mission very much accomplished. We were very much surprised on my birthday (I wasn't the only one surprised, my girlfriend was evidently surprised at the rigour and exertion required to fulfil her romantic whim). We have much to thank for this experience, especially Dani and our porter friends.

An unforgettable experience. To begin with, the person in charge manages everything for you (accommodation, round trip travel to where you want from Lombok included in the price), therefore it makes everything very easy for you.
After the route, our guide Danny was a charm, super nice, he helped with everything, he explained things to us, very organized.
The carriers are 10, it's amazing to see how they can climb like that. They set everything up for you, everything is ready when you arrive. The food (you will not lack food at any time of the day) was very good. Besides, although they knew less English, they looked very nice.
I won't spoil the place. Worth. It's hard, but do it. Do not doubt it.

The company was well organized and helped our group with different requests. They will help you as well to go up to the top.

I might reccomend to do the second day night at the hot spring.
Otherwise the kilometers are not balanced.

Completed the 3 night, 2 day trek with these guys and was thoroughly impressed. Our guide was knowledgeable and helpful, the porters prepared amazing food for us and contacting them to set up the hike via whatsapp was effortless.

Did 3D2N Mt Rinjani summit and it was amazing. The organization was good and boss man Joel is super friendly and helpful. Our guide Bayu was also amazing, helpful and social. The porters did an incredible job and served us really good food (it was restaurant quality and a lot of food).

The hike is really tough, even for me who is an experienced hiker. Think twice before you do the 3 day hike since the summit will be at least 6h up and down and then another 7 h hiking to the second crater rim. Even the 2D1N will be tough. And if you can’t pick up and take care of your own trash (as in leave your trash in the trash bags with the porters) you do not belong on the mountain:).

We just did the crater rim 2 day 1 night with Senaru Trekking and felt they maybe put in less effort as we were not with them for as long but overall we had a good experience - the views are incredible.

The food was great and the transport before and after worked well.

Our guides and porters were lovely but we felt it was a little disorganised. We arrived at the lunch stop on the first day and one of the porters with chairs and food was not there so we had to wait at least 40 minutes before lunch was started. We wouldn’t have minded this in itself but it meant we then got to the crater rim late and there were no spots left on the actual crater rim so we didn’t get to camp with the view and instead camped a 5-10 minute walk away which was disappointing especially when you are only there for one night.

On the way down the same thing happened with us having to wait for our lunch. The porters do an incredible job and this particular porter was training so in no way his fault but felt this could have been planned for better as no one else seemed to have this problem.

Because of this and just other details like the quality of equipment compared to others that we saw versus the amount we paid it didn’t feel good value for money.

It was a beautiful adventure and the food was sublime! Tribute to Awan, Ana & Mirijani!

A great decision and experience to do this trek with Senaru Trekking. The trek was challenging but very rewarding. The team were fantastic, including our guide Sanjeep and all the porters who worked so hard so that we could enjoy the whole experience. Food provided was excellent and plentiful, including loads of snacks along the way. They seemed to know alot about the mountain and really cared about picking up and limiting the rubbish along the way. Would definitely recommend

Just awesome, everything was just perfect!
BAYU, our guide from Senaru was very nice, look after us, talking with us about cultures and traditions, take time to explain lot of things and speak a really good English it was a real pleasure to meet him. Porter was incredible, brave, nice and smiling. Plenty of food and it was always very good. Tents, mattress, sleeping bags, everything was in excellent conditions and we slept like babies. Go with Senaru Trekking, believe me you ll never regret. The view is amazing and the experience too, don't hesitate

We did the Rinjani crater rim trek & had the best experience. Our guide Sanjeep made sure everyone was fine at all times & the porters did a wonderful job. The food was excellent, you don’t need to bring any snacks or water as they provide everything & fed us so much. It was the only company that I saw that seemed to make an effort to clean up the mountain & make sure all rubbish was brought back down.

Great experience and very well organised. We loved our guides and have tremendous respect for the porters carrying everything up the mountain. The pep talks, the food, the views, it was amazing!

Mount Rinjani trek was one of the most epic journeys of my life. We did the 2-day trip with a group of 6 people, and Senaru Trekking was always very supportive. Their porters carried the camping and cooking equipment and prepared our meals while up on the mountain. We strongly recommend Eddy as the tour guide, he is super responsible and has a big heart: he will always make sure we are comfortable and safe (and he ‘saved’ my life more than once:)
