Shibui Garden Bungalows and Restaurant

I booked three nights at the “Shibui Garden Bungalows and Restaurant” and chose the large wooden house. The massive, generously built wooden house in the garden next to the bamboo huts is atmospheric, the shower/toilet is attached and also large.
The excellent breakfast was included, and I also ate dinner every day because the boss and owner is a particularly passionate and good cook.
Although the overall decor is very simple, it was nice to chat to other guests while eating.
However, the traffic next to the main road is loud.

Stayed here one night before catching boat from the port. Rooms a great value and super clean and OMG the burgers are just the best. I’d stay again just for the food alone.

Lovely stay. Beautifully built wooden traditional accomodation. Due to the nature of the building, air con isnt worth using - use a fan if something necessary. When we visited there was not high water pressure for shower. Comfortable mattress. Good breakfast. Dogs and cats on premises. Private balcony.
The reason I booked here was that these guys are quietly doing sustainable tourism - building with more sustainable materials such as wood and bamboo, avoiding excess water consumption. As a result, expect fewer creature comforts such as sound insulation. But again, such comforts come at an environmental price. Hosts are relatively understated in 'eco credentials' which was well beyond those boasted by expensive eco resorts - eg. Coffee served at breakfast grown locally, furniture built from salvaged wood, locally owned business, and I'm sure plenty more I didn't know about
A short scooter drive to Lombok wildlife park, taxi to port 35k.

I rated this place 5 stars before but actually I would like to rate it again 10 stars (if only I can). Such a hidden gem, absolutely amazing host Mr Michael and what a chef! Most amazing mexican dishes and amazing burgers and all made with love.

Mr. Micheal who is host of bungalows, is so kind and friendly to server us for one day stay here. He is master chef for all meal
I very recommently who want to stay here after trekking Rinjni. This is near the Bangsal port and only take 10 minute to walk on the beach.

Great and accommodating host with quick answers to our questions before we arrived. Brett makes a smashing good burger and provides heaps of breakfast in the morning if you stay the night, including home baked goods and coffee beans roasted in-house. We stayed here before going to Gili Meno and visiting the Lombok Wildlife Park, and it’s a great location for that. While the road is loud during the day, it was quiet at night so we had a good sleep.

The man who walk through the little bridge is the master chef so I have the oppotunity to eat 1 of the very best Fried Rice on the island.

We had an amazing stay at Shibui. The hosts are extremely kind and welcoming - we instantly felt home!
We received wonderful tips on what there is to see or di.
The breakfast was the first one in Indonesia that satiated us. He cooks from scratch and even the bread is selfmade.

Surrounding beaches were paradise on earth and the was no single soul to be seen - just some local warungs where you can get great food and drinks for good prices.

Would absolutely recommend.

The host was warm and knew everything about the area if asked. The food is great they make everything from scratch. I slept so well it was a comfy room in every possible way. Excellent hospitality I’ll definitely be going back!

Though I would never eat a ham burger or HongKong style noodles in the middle of no where, seeing Michael I felt that he is a guy who knows what he is doing and boy he dint disappoint! Absolutely lip smacking dishes, prepared everything from scratch and he sat down with us and we had a good conversation and he was kind enough to give insider tips on where to go, what to see and where to find local food! Eventually ended up going 3 days for lunch to the same restaurant, which speaks volumes about the great food! Great guy and hope he keeps up the good work
