Tabo Cottages, Restaurant, German Bakery and Coffee roastery

Absolutely class- stunning location, beautiful grounds, great rooms (a wide variety for all budgets and tastes) along with incredibly friendly staff, and a delicious menu. Literally could not ask for more.

Will 100% be back and can 100% re ecommend for an unforgettable Sumatran stay. Horas!

Came here to enquire about renting kayaks. Beautiful looking resort with perfect views and a nice pool. Cakes looked good too!

Beautiful facility, great ambience. Very clean, breakfast was excellent, there were even different types of bread and the coffee was really tasty. For dinner you can even have fried potatoes, in addition to the typical dishes.

Best place we've stayed at during our 6 weeks of travelling around Indonesia. Staff is friendly, very professional and everyone understands and talks English very well. The standards of accommodation are very high and the rooms very clean. They even had enough warmwater for a long and hot shower. Good WiFi connection in rooms. The pool area and gardens are nice and relaxing. The restaurant menu is nothing extraordinary but the food was good and the breakfast buffet great with a lot of "western" food options.

A lovely place to stay. Great position on the lake with swimming pool on the shore and overlooking the lake. Staff were amazing and always greeted us by name. Extremely helpful and so responsive, Friendly and always enquiring if everything was good.

Nice hotel. Friendly reception. Rooms have a nice view over the lake. We had rooms on the 1st floor. The hotel is quiet. Nice swimming pool to cool off.
Delicious complete breakfast buffet in the morning. Easy to walk to restaurants in the area from the hotel.

Beautiful place on the lake. Lovely swimming in the lake and rented canoes. Enjoyed this place and had a great meal.

The hotel in itself is nice but there only are families (kids all around) and I sadly found the restaurant staff to be slow and arrogant. I don’t recommend. There are other good options on TukTuk

We stayed here last month (Oct 2022) as part of the Sumatra Eco travel's jungle trek package and did they ever pick the right lodging to partner with. We had an excellent stay here. The host/owners are onsite and very accommodating. The staff are super friendly. Tours are provided directly by the cottages which makes things super convenient and also easy to deal w/ any issues. We did the bike tour and the brakes gave out on one of our bikes and they adjusted the fee accordingly. Highly recommend staying here.

Gorgeous cottage in Samosir Island. The staff was very friendly and the location itself is fantastic. The room is very clean, the swimming pool and the garden are very thoroughly maintained on a daily basis. There is direct access to Lake Toba, you can dip in the lake although it's only as deep as waist length since the lake can be rather dangerous.

The breakfast consists of a selection of authentic German bread, local food, salad bar, coffee, tea, bandrek (local warm drink), fresh juice, muesli and some tiny snacks/cakes. We also had dinner there, and they offer a wide selection of Western and Indonesian food. For their special grilled fish with local Andaliman pepper sauce, you have to order at least 2 hours in advance. We didn't get to try it but the Andaliman sauce they use in western style grilled fish fillet was amazing.

Will definitely come back to stay at this cottage!

Makananny buruk. Dessert bagus dr luar saja setelah dimakan kering tidak enak. Reseption balas dgn ketus blg besok besok gak usa datang lagi juga gpp sudah salah tidak minta maaf sok benar polak.melempar kesalahan ke tamu. Mana ad orang reseption berbicara seperti itu. Tidak rekomended jika ad keluarga lebih 10 orang bagus dihindari saja ini hotel! Ac tak ad bagus hotel seblah berbintang. Noted nasi goreng telor = 39ribu. Rasa biasa hambar harga bintang 5.

Had an incredible stay at Tabo cottages! Went for some hikes. Staff were super helpful and Annette is an inspiration and so interesting to hear all the work she’s been doing! Highly recommend it - worth going to visit Pea Farmhouse on a hike - get to see old Batik houses on the way!

The location is perfect. The ferry drops you off and picks you up at their jetty. The staff are very kind and attentive. The homemade bread and cakes are great. Personally the only thing I don't like is that people can smoke anywhere. Although the eating area has 2 open sides the smoke is still a problem for non smokers. Apart from that I recommend it. I also used the spa which is good.

Nice breakfast, affordable and tasty dinner, helpful staff, even lack of hospitality training and great atmosphere, nicely designed. Recommended for staycation, but the access too narrow and sign board doesn't stand out.

Tempatnya bagus kamar mandi bersih kamarnya rapih sayangnya tidak ada tv dan AC tapi lumayan dingin lah, dan untuk pelayanannya kurang ramah, ngambil makanan untuk sarapan aja pelayannya ngeliatin terus, untuk sarapannya standar lah.untuk beranang di danaunya agak kurang sih banyak enceng gondok dan banyak rumput di dasar danaunya,
kolam berenangnya bagus tapi pas dibersihinnya lama banget ada kali 3 jam jadi ga bisa berenang akhirnya untuk semuanya yaaah lumayan lah tapi kalo samosir cottages masih kosong mending kesitu aja deh serius lebih bagus view gunungnya dan danaunya, kalo ini sih opsi kedua sekian.

Merupakan salah satu penginapan yang paling keren dan bagus dan yang sangat terawat di tuk-tuk siadong.
Dimana pemilik cottage ini adalah asli orang Jerman.
Sangat ramah dan kamar sangat bersih.
Hanya saja tidak tersedia teko untuk masak air panas.
Kamar tersedia kipas angin bagi merasa sedikit panas didalam kamar.
Bagi pengunjung, diusahakan untuk bersantai dan tidak mengeluarkan suara yang besar.
Jam 12 malam sudah disarankan untuk tidak ngobrol bersama teman-teman. Karena akan diingatkan oleh petugas penginapan, akan menganggu pengunjung lainnya

Highly recommend! The rooms are very nice and the staff were very accommodating for us. The breakfast is included and we were very impressed with it. The restraunt was great for dinner too! The live music and buffet on Saturday night was a lot of fun. They offer many interesting tours and adventures to go on too. Being right on the lake and near a lot of fun restraunts was a big plus as well!

Peaceful place. Food was OK, coffees and pastiseries are great. Spacious room for 4 people with lical design rich with wood accent. It has spots to enjoy lake Toba. Went there by speadboat. Recommended place to stay in Tuk-Tuk area

Beautiful location, traditional cottages of the highest quality in a serene setting. The menu is varied, and the service is outstanding. Warmly recommended.

Super love this place.
The service is very good.
There is no hairdryer inside the room but you can ask it from the receptionist.
There is a swimming pool here and you can borrow towel from the receptionist.
The view here is awesome.
You can sit in gazebo and see the lake directly.
And you also can swim in the lake.

I totally recommend this place! It's so comfortable, all the staff speaks English and are smiling all the time, and the view on the lake is great:)
We tried a lot of different dishes from the menu in Tabo restaurant - they were delicious and the portions were big enough:)
Bungalows are spacious inside, you can take a hot shower and then relax in the outside terrace. Good place for a few days in Sumatra near the Toba Lake.:)

Berdiri sejak 1994. Tabo Cottages ikut serta aktif membangun pariwisata danau Toba khususnya pulau Samosir melalui owner-nya ibu Annette yang berasal dari Jerman. Seiring waktu, cottages ini berkembang pesat dan maju dalam pembangunan cottagesnya. Begitu juga restonya yang menunya variatif dan lezat.saya sangat rekomendasi tempat ini untuk kunjungan wisata ke danau Toba khusus pulau Samosir. Maju terus.sukses

Resort dan cafe milik bule yang menikah drngan boru Batak, makanannya keren, enak, kamar disamping danau samosir. Pemandangan lepas biru dan cantik.

A very nice place to stay. The staffs are extremely courteous and everyone has a smile on their face. The reception staffs are extremely helpful and they can accomodate to your needs. The rooms are clean and there are quite a good choice of food items in the menu. Would strongly recommend this place to stay if you are going lake toba.

Tempatnya asik buat nyantai dan nikmatin danau toba.lokasi hotel tepat di tepi danau, selain itu bakery dan kopi mereka juga enakkkk pakek banget. Highly recommend arabic coffee nya, mantul markotopp.

Probably the nicest place to stay as a couple in Tuktuk, if you are looking for confortable place. The room are huge and nicely decorated, the houses are "second hand" batak house that have been moved here to build the cottages.
Toba cottages have a nice restaurant, adapted to Western tongue, a bakery, Spa services, tours to discover the surrondings (nature and culture) and they even roast their own coffee.
Saturday night is buffet diner with local band, live music with song from the batak culture. Really worth a try!

Hotel terbaik dan pelayanan terbaik. Yang mau nyari ketenangan dan kenyamanan nginap disini dijamin mantul. Tanpa WiFi tanpa TV tanpa AC, tapi nyamaaaaaannn banget. Recommended.

Taman.yg asri dengan kolam Renang di pinggir danau serta bentang alam yg indah.sungguh sangat menyenangkan.

Tempatnya nyaman, sejuk, ramah, breakfastnya banyak pilihan, kamarnya sangat bagus, sangat rekomended.

If you are looking for a peaceful place next to lake Toba with delicious and organic food - you HAVE to choose Tabo cottages. Tabo means delicious in local batak language and the place is true to its name. Rooms are spacious with huge balconies. We stayed in the junior suite which even has its own attic hamock area perfect for reading on a quite afternoon.
The spa massages were average but good for the price. Annette - the German lady who owns the place is friendly and very involved in day to day operations and will give you great suggestions for your itinerary on the island.

They have pet cats and dogs that roam freely here, so if you like animals, it's a plus! If you don't, they don't bother you anyway.

From the menu:
We tried eating at other local restaurants but the kitchen at tabo beats all of them hands down in prices and quality of food.
Their bakery and coffee is out of the world.

Activities:
Sat nights have great live music and buffet menu with a mixed local and European food. You can rent bikes, scooters, kayaks, speed boats from the resort and they facilitate everything.

Why I chose Tabo:
I travel 15 days in a month for work and 5 stars remind me of work but I can't compromise on standards, hygiene and service. This place feels homely enough without the over the top offerings and unnecessary luxury of 5 stars:) just perfect!

How to get here:
Don't make the mistake of taking the wrong ferry! You can get a direct ferry to the resort (tuktuk port) from tigalanga Harbour rather than from parapet to samosir and then bike taxi to resort.
